I'm heading back home today after a lovely visit with my daughters in Ottawa. I've been yo yo ing so much lately it's kind of ridiculous. I have to have to have to get back on track. All the running around these past few days was a real wake up call, I'm so out of shape. No more excuses ... back to exercising starting today if I get home early enough. I really enjoyed my visit but the next time I want to keep up with the youngins.

Just a quick note to tell everyone hi and to ask for some advice...have any of you dealt with a spouse that has severe depression and refuses to take the meds???? Hes stuck in a cycle of blaming me and the dr. for putting him on meds he doesnt need and then when i can get him to take them he realizes stuff and then he gets mad and wont take them again...its ripping us apart.

Racergirl - So sorry you are going through this. I haven't dealt with a spouse, but have dealt with other people with the same illness. It is hard because without the meds everything is everyone else's fault. Did you talk to the doctor? Perhaps the doctor can give you some insight on how to deal with this. I am sure there are "tips" for family members on what to do in this situation. I always feel it is best to check with the professionals. I hope you get some answers quickly. It is so hard to walk on eggshells all the time. I feel for you...

Wow ... depression is a hard thing to deal with. I myself am prone to depression. I was once miss-diagnosed and given the wrong meds and it ruined years of my life ... now I too refuse to take any meds but I've been lucky enough that therapy, eating better and exercising really helped me. Unfortunately, through those terrible years there was no other person who could really help me, I had to want to help myself before anything would work. I hope your spouce finds what works for him, a good therapist helped me. Good luck my MFP friend, I hope it all works out.

Well, got on the scale again this morning ... gained a crap load of weight again. YoYo YoYo. That's enough ... I have got to take this seriously. I'm feeling so slugish lately and pooped out. I ate well today and took a nice long walk. I want to get fit again. Today was a good fresh start. NO MORE YOYO!!!!

I too am so sorry to hear you are going through all of this. As magglett said, the only one that can help your spouse is himself. What you need to focus on is taking care of YOU. In our practice, we have a Social / Mental Health worker that would be a tremendous help to someone like you - where you can tell them how you are feeling, and they may be able to provide you with some insight for your spouse.
((HUGS)) to you. Wishing you luck dear.

Camping didnt go as well as I had hoped....:frown: Thought the break from reality might help the hubby and me but it didnt really. Oh well what can ya do? Kept my eating on track though for the most part...yay me! Best part of the whole weekend was being able to wear my bathing suit top with shorts and not having the whole "muffin top" thing going on... I would have taken pics but my camera is MIA (not sure if it was stolen or just misplaced). Anyway have an awesome week (or whats left of it) and remember I luv ya all!

Glad you got to wear the bathing suit top when you went camping. That must have felt good! Not sure where everyone is around here, but hopefully you are all ok! We are dealing with a heat wave here in NJ, but I'm managing to keep cool and stay in the a/c. Work is winding down and I'm happy about that. I like my free time! I've been doing the exercising thing every day and I'm sticking with it. I still don't like it, but it is necessary!

Hi everyone ... I'm still kicking around. We're dealing with the heat and humidity here in Niagara, Ontario too ... but I get out walking every day anyway. I'll be doing a lot of walking when I get to New York in a little over a week from now and I want to be used to it. I'm so excited!!!!

Hate exercising but love the results!! We had 90 degrees yesterday and now today its 50degrees....I would rather have the heat!! Keep up the good work....remember the goal...to be healthy!!

Everyone seems to be doing pretty well! I'm glad! Gearing up for the weekend here. No major plans, which is fine with me! Just going to dinner Saturday night and that is always a challenge. I am going to work out a little more today to try to bump things up a bit. Maybe that will help with this process. I watch tv while I use the treadmill and I still get bored! Just don't know how people do it. I am learning though. Baby steps, huh?
