A CHALLENGE FOR BINGERS

Four days down and starting Day 5!! I almost can't believe it. So far this week no sugar, refined flour, alcohol, or processed foods. I can't believe how much food I have to eat when I'm not eating any of that crap. Man, is that stuff a calorie hog...
For everyone celebrating with drinks tonight, I just want to share something I learned from a nutritionist... Alcohol causes your blood sugar to drop, which is the same thing that happens when you eat sweets and then want more later. The drop in blood sugar tells your brain to tell you to eat something, anything! And the impulse is strong, as I'm sure many of you know, and so I'd suggest planning for that. Don't have all your drinks after supper tonight and plan on them being the last thing you'll put in your mouth. Have some kind of a snack planned for after or during drinking so you don't wind up at the drive-through or the convenience store looking for ice cream at 2:00 a.m. (that's what happens to me ). (p.s. - this is why I'm avoiding alcohol during my 2 week vacation from sugar)
Great job everyone!0 -
Starting day 2. Today will be hard, I will be facing many temptations. But I have to have control.
Good luck and have a great Friday.

Today is Day 7! Made it through six days. Today I'm flying/ driving all day but I got up at the crack of dawn, worked out, and pre-planned lots of airplane snacks. Good luck, everyone!0

Starting day 6 (I think) and am worried because today is my one whole day off per week and I tend to graze a lot. I've got lots of things to do laundry, cleaning etc. But I have to get to the gym and burn off my calories so this won't throw me over the top.
Good luck everyone.0 -
So I have carefully planned my meals today to help ease the pain of my over eating this morning. I have a little over 300 left today to eat (dinner) and will exercise about 400 cal off later. that should help me still be in the clear. Man, those rice chips just were NOT worth all this at all. But after eating 800 in the morning I wasnt hungry for lunch until 2 today. Usually I am really hungry by 11:30.
I also realized that if I used Nori to make a wrap sandwich today I would save ALOT of cal from the wrap itself so I ate 3 nori wraps with the same filling I would have put in 1 regular wrap- kinda cool trick if you like Nori!0 -
Just finished day 6!! I'm so excited because I had my meals all planned out for the day because I went out with some friends tonight and really needed to stick to what I planned in order to allow myself enough calories to drink a little bit tonight! All went just as planned...and I couldn't be more happy about it Let's hope the rest of the weekend goes just as well!0

Day 8 for me!
Today is the first Official Week since starting my no binge challenge and eating healthy! And im so proud to say that i lost 3.8 lbs this week :noway: :noway: :noway: OMG im so excited! This was my third week doing MFP but i would fall off the wagon during the first two weeks! OH MAN, Im RIDING THE WAGON NOW!
How did everybody else do?
for the past three years ive always had a cheat day or meal on saturdays so i will take it easy today! I will still log everything(which is a first for me) and ive got an awesome circuit planned today that should burn alteast 500 cals if not more!0 -
Confession time :noway: :noway:  Back to day one and I am hoping I can survive this one as well. To start I don't have time to exercise this morning and then we are going to an Italian rest for dinner. I am hoping to workout tonight so I don't blow today as well. I did go out last night and instead of one drink I had four!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, four!!!!!!!!!!!!! One mojito though, but 3 other drinks...:grumble: I know, my bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well not really, two were "pushed" on me. And then they decided to go out to eat at 3am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only had one gordita, it is similar to a mexican taco...it was small. I did dance a lot, I was sweating like crazy, hardly sat down, so I don't know....but I am still going to punish myself and put me back at day one, let's see if I can do at least 5 days in a row this time around. :flowerforyou:0

Back to day 1 for me as well..weekends kill me.0

Oh Fridays... Back to day 1 and today is my weigh-in day. I'm at 182.8 lbs which is 2.8lbs down from last Saturday
Good luck to everyone for the rest of the weekend!! My problem has been that I've recently gone down to a net of 1200 cals a day and the last couple of days I haven't been able to get a good workout in so I'm not getting exercise cals and psychologically I feel like I want to eat more than I have in the day so I've snacked at night.
I'll learn and move on.0 -
Um, yeah, it's back to day 1 for me as well. I jumped off of the wagon last night. Bad. I still went to the gym and burned a ton of calories, but I ate treats at the movies (within my caloric allotment) but on the way home I was legitimately hungry and then made some very poor choices. Oh well, I'm not going to beat myself up over it, I'm going to just accept it and move on. Friday is usually my "cheat" day anyway so...
:frown:
I'm still going to the gym today as well.
Good luck to all those who started over and to those who've stayed on course as well.0 -
thanks for starting this thread. it kept me from binging last night! :drinker:0
-
Day two binge free- feeling great. Went mtn biking and burned a lot of calories and could have used that as an excuse to binge but I didnt! I am really proud of myself for not binging and for mtn biking- it was incredible!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Hang in there!0 -
I'm at the end of day 5! Saturday was my biggest fear, and I made it through without totally blowing my diet.0

Day 9??? That is great!!!! I hope I can last that long...:grumble: I survived yesterday so this is the start of day 2. My husband put in the oven some of those jumbo flaky biscuits with tons of calories, fat and sodium. I can eat 3 or 4 of those but only had one with 2 slices of bacon and one egg...so far so good. I did my workout already plus I am going to sea world with my son. I will be packing snacks so I dont eat junk food there. So it doesnt look too bad for me so far...gosh this is tough!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Ok. I'm calling this good practice for the holidays in a couple of months. Back to day 1 for me today. I've been so stressed and this is the first time it's really gotten to me but I have to find a way around it.
Day 1. And a new strategy.0 -
Today is Day 9 for me of not binging! More to follow later -- I made some bad choices yesterday (hot dog and beer at a football game) but it wasn't out of control and I had worked out so hard that I ended up under my calories. I feel good about it so I'm not counting it as a binge even though it certainly wasn't an ideal dinner!
Congrats to everyone who is sticking with it!0 -

Wonderinglight-i had some pizza yesterday and like you workout really hard so I was satisfied with the day! Gotta love those intense workouts and the calories they burn:bigsmile:
pedalhound- Good luck with day one! I understand having to deal with everything....stress is the first thing that gets my diet out of whack!0 -
Ok, end of day 2 round 2 and I am under by 17 cals!!!! Not eating anymore today. I survived my outing to Sea World. I just ate the snacks I brought from home which is just 4 miles away from the park. See you tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flowerforyou:0

Since all of you have been so honest with your "re-starts", I need to confess I had to start over at day 1 today :ohwell: I went out again last night, and unlike Friday, a granola bar just didn't cut it at the end of the night:grumble: I don't think I got to a point in my calories that I would consider "binging" but I guess it was really hard to tell, because I was dancing/cheering during an entire football game and running around a LOT. Then danced the night away later on, so I burned a lot then too! It was just so hard to calculate where exactly I was at calorie-wise, but I definitely could have made some better choices, so I decided to start over today! Plus, (being the glass half full person that I am haha) I'm hoping that going over by quite a bit in calories yesterday jump starts my metabolism for the rest of the week and I end up seeing better results anyway!? I don't know, maybe I'm just telling myself that Anyway, have a good start to your week everyone!0

Wrapping up Day 9 -- I thought about starting over at Day 1 because I'm over my calories by 200 today, and that combined with yesterday's debaucherous behavior (whiskey, hot dogs, etc.) is making me feel a bit disappointed in myself. HOWEVER, I didn't go over calories yesterday and I worked out to counteract the hot dog splurge, and I don't feel out of control and ashamed (which is how I usually feel during/ after a binge), so I'm going to keep on going and I know I'll make it to the mini 10 day challenge tomorrow.
I really appreciate this thread, and applaud everybody for being honest. It's just a good environment to make those positive changes that we can all make!0 -
Well, since the first 10 day challenge ends tomorrow, and since so many of us are in need of a new day 1, who's in for starting a new 10 day mini challenge tomorrow???
Let's do it! We can, we WILL  :bigsmile:0 -
