Now I suddenly feel like eating an entire tub of frosting with my bare hands. Why????!!!6 -

Back in the 80's, my recruiter handed me a printout of the Cabbage Soup Diet. I have no recollection of if I tried it or not. The weight standards were raised while I was in the military and it turned out I never needed to lose that weight in the first place >.<0

I ate a whole cabbage one night, the next morning I had gained 4 lbs!!!!!1

That's because one whole cabbage is 14k calories.1

Wha??? hahaha, no. no it really isn't. 2.5lbs of cabbage (standard head) is 296 calories. You'd have to eat around 120lbs of cabbage to get 14,000 calories.7 -
I was kidding! I figured that poster was too. At least I hope she was4

Oh good, haha! I automatically assumed that there was just a really really dodgy entry in the database!2 -
If I eat a jar of kimchi will it work like a soup?!??5
-
So if I just make sure I get the correct MFP entry (less than 14,000 calories). I could eat two or three cabbages a night and lose weight by the next morning? Or do I need to have it in soup? I'm so confused.3

This.
The best way to lose weight is by eating the way you know you will be able to stick to for life. It's a lifestyle change. Not a race to a finish line.0 -

Actually, the "calories" that are used in describing food are literally kilocalories, or (big C) Calories -- a thousand times the energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 g (or 1 ml) of water by 1 degree celsius. You would only have to eat about 50 grams of raw cabbage to get 14 kcal.
If you don't believe me, maybe you'll be the USDA.0 -
Cabbage soup, brings back memories of all the low fat, low protein woo diets.
I wonder if we'll have necro low carb threads reviving in another five years time?1 -
