Your body is most likely in starvation mode. You are eating WAY too few calories.

Well sweets, you really need to eat at least 1200 calories! I wouldn't worry about the natural sugar found in fruit but I would stay away from the refined stuff. If you're having trouble eating enough calories I would suggest eating some raw nuts, they are high in calories and good for you too

I guess I don't understand your question. Are you wondering why you have so many caloires left and what to do about that? I don't mean to sound mean when I say this but I feel like it should be obvious, you don't eat full meals. Arn't you hungry!!! Eat a banana with your breakfest, some carrot sticks with ranch dressing with your lunch and eat a real dinner, like vegie lasagna or a burger and baked potato fries or even just chicken breast with rice and vegies. You will never make it on what you are eating.

Just from what I saw it didn't seem like you were eating near enough. It looks like fruits and veggies were missing on most days too. Be careful of some of the lunch meats due to the high sodium content.

I feel great, not hungry at all. I also feel way more energetic. I need to find calories if you could see as I am at the levels i need to be for sugars, carbs, etc... So i need calories, but not sugars.

I would recommend that you read this...

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3047-700-calories-a-day-and-not-losing

Is there a reason that you are eating so little? What are your stats and goals?
How long have you been doing this?

First you should read the link I posted. Then I would suggest upping the whole foods. Add a banana to your cereal, try a protien shake after a workout (hemp protien is my fave, but thats up to you). Try adding a handful of nuts for a snack, you get alot of bang for your buck.

If I had that many calories left, I'd have a lean steak about 6ounces (raw weight), caesar salad, and some delicious jasmine rice cooked in chicken broth. I'd then follow that up with some whole-grain crackers and low-fat cheese as a snack.

Don't worry about sugar so much, espceially if it is from whole fruit. If you have to go over in sugar to reach your caloires, do it. You are better off.

I would eat more meat (not deli meat though-so much salt), more fruit (bananas are a higher calorie fruit) and vegetables. Maybe some beans, eggs and nuts- you don't seem to be getting a lot of protein.

I agree. First master the correct calorie intake, then adjust from there. I wouldn't worry so much about sugar from fruit unless you are diabetic or something... or you plan on eating a bushel of apples everyday.

Thanks for all the responses and please keep them coming. Basically I am a couple fruits away and a handfull of nuts or so from being where I need to be, just was really worried about the sugars as i keep reading articles on how sugar is such a big deal. I love all fruits, veggies not so much.

i kind of feel like you are further away from meeting your calorie goal than you think. you often have 1,000 calories left for the day which is a lot more than just a banana, apple and handfull of almonds. I hope you dont' think i'm picking on you or being mean, I really just want to help. I know how hard it is to lose weight and how easy it is to give up when you don't get the results. You should friend me and look at my food diary, i'm not always perfect but I have lost almost 50 pound so I feel like I'm doing something right!! Your body needs calories to function every day. For a man, I think it is something like 1500 at least.

I started a week ago and here is what a normal day consisted of for me eating wise. Breakfast=what is that Lunch=whatever my guys are eating hardees, arbys, mcdonalds, etc... Dinner=Fillet, t-bone, sirloin, chicken strips, loaded potates, frenchfries, etc... and regular pop, tea, gatorade, etc... Not to mention a couple nights of 5-10cocktails with regular pop and a pizza here and there around midnight while drinking. OUCH lookin back I can see why I weigh what I do.

I feel great, not hungry at all. I also feel way more energetic. I need to find calories if you could see as I am at the levels i need to be for sugars, carbs, etc... So i need calories, but not sugars.

Whether you feel hungry or not, that is not the issue. For those who struggle with weight their sense of being hungry is usually all messed up so they can't trust it.

First things first, as a male you need to eat at least 1500 calories a day. That would be net calories, the calories you eat minus the calories you burn in exercise, needs to be ate least 1500. At this point you are on your way to burning off muscle and not fat and eventual long term problems.

Don't worry about sugar from fruit, it is natural sugar. The sugar you need to worry about, sort of, is the processed type. Frankly I never even consider it and don't track it at all.

Next, ditch the diet foods. Eat real bread with your sandwiches. Low sodium is fine, probably even a good idea, but ditch the low cal bread and instead eat a healthy whole grain bread. I notice you have few healthy fats in your diet as well. Flax seed (ground), almonds, walnuts, and more are all good for you if eaten in reasonable amounts. They are high in calories, so over eating them can happen just be careful with your portions and add some in.

Lean meats are good. Get some fresh chicken breasts and cook them up in the oven without add any salt. Tuna, Salmon and other fish, extra lean or lean ground beef, turkey, flank steak, and more.

Add veggies. Lots and lots of veggies. The bagged frozen type are quick and easy to prepare but make sure nothing else in added to them, you just want veggies. Fresh is even better.

Again I want to emphasize you need to eat more. Lots more. 600 calories a day for a man will guarantee that you will be burning off muscle instead of fat, and that means you are slowing your metabolism more and more every day. When you start eating more again when you reach your goal that pretty much assures you that you will gain your weigh back, and worse yet, it will be more fat than you had before because you have lost muscle.

You are eating way less than you should be. I know it sounds ironic, but up your calories to at least 1200 and watch the weight come off...

Nice reply. I have no problem eating more. The bread idea I just realized is silly why I eat a low calorie bread when I need more and I love walnuts and almonds. Again i am picky on veggies. I love corn and potatoes which I know are not good for you. That part could be a problem.

Corn and potatoes are fine to eat, just as part of an overall balanced picture. For example, a nice and hearty dish is a baked potato with some Greek yogurt and salsa, skin on. Good source of Vitamin C and Iron. It's the butter, cheese, and oils we like to add that do us in.

Jim's post did a great job of summarizing what you need to do--and frankly I hope it sinks in more coming from a fellow man.

I'll echo everyone else's sentiments here--you plain ol' need to eat more. Prolonged under-feeding can eventually suppress your normal hunger cues, thus complicating the matter further. That's probably why it doesn't seem like you're hungry all the time, but my stomach growled just looking at your food diary!

I'm glad I could help. One warning. when you make the change there may be (I emphasize MAY) a brief increase in your weight of a couple of pounds. Don't freak out over it as it is a result of eating so little calories. Your body will adjust fairly quickly. For some people they immediately start losing. Hopefully you will be the later, but at the calories you have been eating, you may be the former. I'm more than happy to help if I know the answers.

I have no issues with seeing my weight increase as I am in it for the long haul as long as I know I am doing it right. Seeing what others on here do makes me more comfortable that if I stick with it and stick with this site i will be successful. 1 question off my topic. Is the old saying of last meal a few hours before you go to bed true?
