So,I know that I have to drink about 8 glasses of water a day.But I have such a problem doing this. When I exercise I can down a few very quickly, but throughout the day I drink them so slow. I just bought a new water bottle that hopefully will help me,plus I want to challenge myself to do it. I see people on here drinking a gallon a day,is that possible??

I drink a lot of peppermint tea, which I log as water. I drink maybe 3 glasses of water a day, and the rest as tea or peppermint.0

just like healthy eating, it has to become a habit. I personally find I drink more if I have a large glass or bottle with a straw, so it takes minimal effort to keep sipping large amounts lol0

I drink a gallon or so of water a day.
I just keeping filling up my aquafina bottle all day.
It's easier when you stop thinking of it as a challenge.
And just more as something normal.
It helps that I work in a call center,
so my throat is always dry.
Not cool that I've always gotta pee.0 -
i drink a lot of tea, too, and i flavor my water with crystal light or mio. some people think its downright evil to flavor water with anything unnatural, but it really helps me get enough water.0

I used to be an aerobic instructor in my late teens early 20's and would teach three hours a day
without drinking water! Shame on me. My lower back started to hurt and it turned out to be my kidneys.
My doctor said I either drank water now or one day when I did want to drink I would not be able to due
to kidney failure. I got on track!!! One gallon a day and it all went away.
BUT, that gallon a day was only bc I was exercising alot. So if youre exercising alot yes, do one gallon
if you can. But other than that dont. Shoot for the 8 glasses. And just drink them normal. A gallon
a day is not necesary. Just drink as you can but do drink..............0 -
It's really not that hard to get the water in. Flavor it if you have to--that still counts!
It's best to try to sip it throughout the day so you never have a huge hurdle ahead of you.0 -
I love tea also, and I love water,i rather drink it than soda.I just don't drink as much as I should.0

yes its possable to drink a gallon a day but im not one of those folks who can do it, when i first started i had a hard time getting 1 cup of water down a day but i just kept at it, my sister told me to get a 32oz cup of unsweet tea from wawa and keep the cup, if i filled it up twice a day (once i the morning and once in the afternnoon) thats 8 cups of water in one day.
so i gave it a try and it worked form me it is so much easier to do it this way than the water bottles i also toss in a lemon wedge to give it some flavor.
anyhow it took me a while to get into it but persistance paid off and now its a new habit, but still i can only do two 32oz a day and im done i dont even try to do more than that, i hope this helps you i was also thinking have you tried flavored water there are plenty out there with zero calories zero carbs.
good luck and friend me if you need to i still have 56 lbs to go0 -

I agree it becoming habit and it being easier with certain kinds of cups/water bottles. I have a water bottle that has a straw on it and it becomes so effortless to drink over a gallon a day of water.0 -
Thanks for the advice everyone!0

I have a cup from the hospital that holds 32 oz and has a straw. I just take it everywhere, and I usually will drink about 12-16 cups a day, but I was not always like that. I hated water. But now it is all I drink 99% of the time. I workout about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours in the morning, I down 8 cups during that time alone.0

I break my water up during the day. I try to do two glasses with breakfast/before lunch, two glasses with lunch/afternoon, two with exercise and two with dinner/evening. Makes it easier to handle that way!0

I carry a hot pink water bottle to work with me everyday. The bright color reminds me that I need to drink it, plus water is the only drink that I'm allowed on the desk with. When I'm at home I keep the Brita pitcher filled so the water's always nice and cold and every time I fill my glass I put in a tbsp of organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar. I've read things that say it's so good for you and it flavors the water just enough that it doesn't feel like drinking plain boring water.0

For me it's not that i dislike water. I actually quite like it, it's just that i don't remember to drink it unless i'm feeling thirsty and don't feel thirsty that often.0

I think the water bottle you bought will help. Just keep it filled and near you at all times. I find that when there's a water bottle in front of me, I instinctively drink from it without even noticing. Before I know it, it's time for a refill!0

I drink water while I work but I also drink a lot of herbal teas, I count those as water too and they taste good yay!
Herbal teas can have lots of goodies in such a fennel and other herbs good for diets, I also like ones with cardamon in cuz they smell and taste lovely0 -
I use a one liter bottle and take it with me everywhere. The water has to be cold though, so I fill it and put it in the freezer over night.0

Not a problem! I'm a big fan of chunking/breaking things up.... Must be the psychology nut in me!0 -
(breakfast) meal and 2 cups of water
(snack) w/ 1 cup of water
(lunch) meal and 2 cups of water
(snack) w/ 1 cup of water
(dinner) mean and 2 cups of water
(snack) w. 1 cup of water
This is my every day routine and trust me girl , it helps, you get used to drinking water with your meals every day.0 -
Whatever bottle you use, use a straw.. it goes down faster :-)0

I don't drink 8 glasses a day, nor do I feel any need to. I drink as I'm thirsty. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=893239340

as long as its not boiled water I understand.... Boiling it takes out all the nutrients0

you cant buy a water bottle which hold that amount you require each day. I fill this up at the end of each day and that gives an idea. not the easiest thing to slug around but it works0

I will add lemon or cucumber to change it up, it makes a big difference on those days you just can't seem to power through it!0

I have to have a wide-mouth bottle to drink large volumes. The ones I use can be found at the following link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001EGIKCO/ref=asc_df_B001EGIKCO1556085?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B001EGIKCO
I also drink 64-80 ounces of weak iced tea a day. I make a 1.5 cup measuring cup of "regular" tea, add 4 tsp of sugar to counter the bitterness, and then water that down to the size of my teajug. (one is 64 oz, one is 80 ounces).
After that, I allow myself to drink gatorade or crystal light.0 -
Maybe the 8cups a day seems daunting. That's literally 8 cups of water, not 8 full glasses. One cup is 8 oz, and the glass I drink out of is a 16 oz glass, so I get two cups in one glass. That means throughout the day I only drink four glasses of water, but it's really 8 cups.0

So I read this and realized that I had been thinking about it in glasses instead of cups and the cup I drink out of is also 16 oz. So I've been drinking 16 cups of water a day and not realizing it.... Major blond moment there!0 -
What helps me during the day, is having a water bottle with me all the time. I find that keeping a water bottle while driving, I challenge myself to drink it all before I get to where I'm driving.
Also, refill the same water bottle. Or get a nice cup with a straw. I refill my water bottle at the water cooler throughout the day.
I only have one tea in the morning. If I have more than one, I tend to not drink as much water.
Hope this helps! Keep up the good work.0
