    Bump

Hello, any purple people out there?
Here! Did I see you were from San Diego area? That's my home!

Yes, I live in San Carlos right by Lake Murray. I've lived in San Diego all my life.
Cool! I was born & raised in San Diego County. Totally miss it! Moved to Spokane, WA in Oct 1993 and still haven't adjusted to the FREEZING winters. The cold is already starting here. Blah! Ready for another Arizona/San Diego trip.
  • Hey C:happy:
How often are you eating meals/snacks? Since I've changed up to eating more often about every 3 hours now...about 200-300 calories each meal/snack I found it has made all the difference in the world for me. Not sure what your daily calorie goal is but that would work at 1500 or 1800 with 5-6 meal/snacks. Any other daily calorie goal would work just fine as well...just need to adjust accordingly.

Anywhoooooooo I have found that I'm not hungry, not craving simple carbs and all that crazy stuff like I used to now that I feed my body more often. It keeps the blood sugar levels on a nice even keel and your metabolism boosted all day...which of course we all want! Might give er a try if you don't already.

If you're merely getting hungry after work because, hey YOU'RE HUNGRY... and it's nearly dinner time, how about packing a snack for eating on the way home...something that's a carb/protein combo to level your blood sugars and keep your mind from wandering to snacking before your evening meal.

Not sure what type of job you have but if there's a desk involved...WALA! A desk drawer is a perfect place for a snack size bag of trail mix etc.

It's tough adjusting to new things...you'll get in the groove in no time:wink: I have no doubt!:drinker:

    Have a super Day C:tongue::flowerforyou:

I work for a Family as thier "Assistant", I take a 8oz water bottle, (which I fill up throughout the day), a string cheese and a Bar ... I recently started this, so it might take me time to get on schd...with this... in references to your question - how often do I eat ... 3 times a day, I guess I need to add more meals, well snacks, thanks so much! :flowerforyou:

Know WONDER you're so hungry on the way home Girlie!!! :noway:

Maybe adding more meals to your day might help...it doesn't have to be sit down meals...but say for instance Breakfast-2-3Hundred Calories, then about 3 hours later you can do a carb/protein combo with the same amount of calories 200-300. Then Lunch same thing, then 3 hours later same thing, then it's dinner time (same thing) and then if you need something in the evening after dinner you add in another snack about the same amount of calories.

I've read this now in so many places that I have to say since I began that routine I haven't looked back...it may seem like alot of planning but like you said...it'll take you time to get on a schedule.:drinker: Plus you mentioned string cheese...add some carb to that and then you've gotten one of the mini meals.

I can't seem to get all my calories in each day..... and believe me...I'm trying!! Let alone any excercise calories (which I don't really understand how they work)...I might have to adjust my calorie deal on here so it's closer to what I might need or at least be able to do.

I've never really counted calories until I joined up here, I was doing a carb/protein combo at each meal...and eating clean doing it that way.

Just some ideas that I've tried, and found success with...this site truly makes it much easier planning meals...or at least logging them in after. Ok, so I haven't got the planning part down yet for more than a day at time...but....I'm still one of the new kids on this block.

    Hope everyone is doing well!:flowerforyou:

Sounds like we are doing the same thing... I'M trying to get my calories up too, but it's hard. I hadn't done bread or simple carbs, but just added in rice pasta and that has more calories than a piece of fruit, so it helps. I only do this 3 times a week, though, More than that & I feel like a slug.

The program I am on says not to worry about too many/too little calories - just eating 6-7 mini meals every 2-3 hours.

I never had a calorie amount on my every couple hour hamster feedings either:laugh: ...I read that on several threads on here...I really should check that out myself before I posted it, sorry. But it seems to work out with the daily calories that the site wants me eating.

I'm T2 so eating more frequently keeps my blood sugar level happy and me happier....because it's really keeps my mood more leveled out...not worn down like I used to be doing only 3 meals a day.. (blood sugar lows...can have the strangest effects)

I'll be thinking of you...and I'll be back with a weigh in for BLoser PURPLE ROCKS team this afternoon....sorry I couldn't give you a morning weigh in our fearless leader. lol I had to adjust my workout scedule as I did another stay up WAY TOO LATE night again and couldn't see myself getting out of bed at 4am to head to the gym. Trying to look at proper health in all ways, enough sleep, clean eating, daily excercise. That sleep thing is new to me but I'm taking it much more serious now....

Gonna brace myself for the scale since I can still feel water retention...dang...same thing last week...this has been wacko...way to long now! :drinker: :drinker:

So I shall return...:flowerforyou: :drinker: :drinker:

I too went back to work recently. I'm a teacher. Over the summer I did pretty well getting on a schedule but once I got back to work it had to change. Usually I would come home STARVING and snack all the way to dinner time and then still eat dinner. Now I have a pretty good schedule. I've never been a breakfast person, but I make sure I have something on my way to work - usually a slimfast shake, but at least it's something. Then I have some yogurt and fruit between my 1st 2 classes, then I have a small lunch - a salad or a portion from dinner the night before, then I have a small snack after my last class - like a 100 cal pack or fruit. Now when I get home I don't go right for the fridge. I think it is all about routine.

I feel the same way...I have been retaining water for about 2 weeks. I can tell in my fingers. Since I have lost weight my wedding rings are loose and spin around. The last couple of weeks they have felt tight.....*sighs* Drinking a ton of water to try and flush out my system....no luck so far.

Nice work!!! Bloated and lost a pound! you rock.

I just got back from VACAY on Labor Day..worked 3 days last week, and they just went to the races over the weekend...actually all day Friday, TS Hanna spoiled the party on Sat, and was at the race track all day Sunday. You would think that baking in the sun all day would cause you to lose weight!

I don't know, I think I am hitting a plateau myself, I always do at this weight. This is the first time I am determined to get below it.

I think our bodies need time to adjust to all the changes we are putting them through. Hopefully we will get over this hump, and lose double next week.

Even staying the same is way better than gaining! When you think about it, seven days isn't a lot of time to lose weight unless you're really pushing yourself hard, which is hard to sustain in the long run, away.

Here are some weight-loss vibes: :glasses: :flowerforyou: :drinker:
