NSV alert: Today I was going through my clothes to clean my closet up (yard sale time) and though I had to get rid of a lot of clothes(some were too small and others I just never wear, and my foot grew while i was pregnant and never shrunk back LOL) anywho...I tried on a pair of jeans that I bought while I was pregnant ( like 5 weeks so I hadn't gained baby weight yet) They are billabong size 11, I literally have not been able to fit in them since may of 2009 and they fit!!!! Also I had a pair of Old Navy Bermuda pants that haven't fit since Aug 2008 a size 10 FIT, a pair of Hollister khaki shorts ( haven't fit since like 2007) FIT, and a mini skirt from American Eagle size 8 ( hasn't fit since 2007) FIT!!!! I honestly can't explain how happy I am right now!!!! Its the weirdest thing because I didn't think I had even lost a size!!! I know every brand fits differently but damn that was sooooooo nice!!! sorry to go on and on but I am just soooo excited and my BF was just like "thats cool" lol

OMG! I know that had to feel wonderful! I definitely still have more clothes to throw away myself. I didn't really keep any of my "skinny" clothes. But I am definitely looking forward to buying new clothes. But great work girl...sometimes trying on clothes is a better indicator of how our hard work has paid off! :)

So what I need from everyone is suggestions on a start date, immediately after this one or a later start date, any suggestions that you all may have will definitely be taken into consideration. I am also wondering if we should ask others to join?

I do think we should put it out there for others- I remember how many people wanted in on S2S after we were closed and I just hate to not give someone the opportunity to get involved with such a great group! Having said that- Let's make it brief!

Maybe just a week after Friday? I just want to tell a few friends that I think would really benefit. i love the sound of it Krys! And thanks to you and Miss Whit for putting it all together. If you need any help please let me know. You guys are all so great and obviously so strong. I'm sad this is ending but grateful to have had you all along the way. Xoxo

Though I didn't lose 40lbs in this challenge, it gave me a boost of confidence. I admit that I've been slacking off lately but I know that I'm able to drop the pounds without doing crazy diets, diet pills, etc. It's up to me to stop the excuses and get back on top of things. Anywho, I really loved this challenge!

I like the idea of the mini challenges and the measurements because I'm taking an hiatus from the scale, seeing my numbers the past few weeks pulled me down into a big funk. I need to tweak some things before I start the next challenge though.

I agree with Emma, we should put the group out there for others. You never know who may really need the support and help to begin living a healthier lifestyle.

Yay New Challenge! ...that's all...
  • Just my two cents worth. I really think we should open it up to others as well. But with that being said, I also think we should only open it up for a period of time and then close the group again so we don't have people constantly coming and going. I also think we should have another restriction like if you miss x number of weeks reporting, you are dropped from the group to make it easier on the tracking. But whatever is decided, I will be a part of it!

Ok, so I am have decided to have the new challege start June 13th. I will open up the group from June 6th to June 8th and that is it. I want to have the list finalized by then so that it gives whittrusty enough time to put together the spreadsheet for the weigh-ins. I will still have it be a weekly one but the goal is really just to lose 5lbs per month. So a lot less pressure. And as it pertains to the measurements, those will be posted once a month. I don't want a 100 person group and then end up with 20 people at the end. Although, I do consider us to be very much so "the elite" LOL I am still trying to think of a name though...Since we are going from June 13th to September 12th (that is a Monday) I could make it something to do with Summer....

    Any suggestions...?

Love the name!!! I am excited for this Sept 8th is my birthday and I really wanted to be close as I can to my first mini goal. I have to admit I have been slacking lately with the move and getting engaged I really have just not focused on my diet. Time to get serious and it definetly helps having to report into you ladies. Will there be weekly workout challenges like for example like week one you have to go a certain amount of miles? I think that would be cool like you have to do 100 crunches or something ...

I am very excited to start the new challenge. I am nowhere close to the 40 lb loss for this challenge, so I love the 5lb a month idea. That seems do-able for me. :) I also love the idea of weekly challenges as it gives me something to aim for rather than just the numbers on the scale going down.

    Btw love the name!!

Yes! There will be exercise challenges as well. Over the weekend I am going to write down enough for every week of the challenge, so I am not thinking of them at the last minute :)

    Love it! Summer Meltdown!

I am excited! So what day will weigh in day be? And I really like the idea of still having a weekly spreadsheet. And more chatter on the boards. I am hoping that the group doesn't get too big because I would really like to get to know more of you and give unconditional support. Together we are stronger.

    Have a great weekend!

This is long and was written for ones who had WLS but it does apply to any of us who are struggling to overcome obesity with healthly life style changes. It lends itself to one of my primary MOTTO's which is Success is never giving up. It is not as long as it looks because it is only using half of the page. But I figured many of us could use a boost as we go to the next challenge and if you are like me did not do as well as you would have like to have done.

How to Get Rid of Your Pesky Weight Obsession
By Katie Jay, MSW, Certified Wellness Coach
Director, National Association for Weight Loss Surgery
    www.nawls.com

I'm supposed to have an answer for this--how to get rid of
the seemingly hopeless obsession with food, your body, and
    the scale.

Actually, I do have an answer, and it's not popular. The
answer is to allow yourself to feel uncomfortable as you
change, and to allow the time it takes for change to happen.

A NAWLS member shared with me, "I didn't think it would be
    this hard for this long!"

What I have noticed is that the people I have met and worked
with have changed significantly -- over time.

Sometimes someone will have an epiphany, but even then it's
the result of months and sometimes years of relentless effort.

Sometimes someone will know they need to address an issue
in their lives, but they aren't ready for it. So they
dabble, and retreat, dabble, and retreat -- but eventually
    make progress.

Sometimes someone will push, push, push, and still self
sabotage time and time again -- and then, over time, start
to care deeply for themselves. All this, before any regain
    comes off.

Really, the only answer is to never give up.

In my workshops, I ask people, "What do you do when you fall
down?" They say, "Get up!" But then I ask them again and
again and again, until they are sick of saying it. And then
    I ask them some more.

The point is, we always have to get up, even if we don't want
to. Getting up must be our main habit -- physically, mentally,
    emotionally, and spiritually.

So, that's the answer. How do we get rid of our pesky weight
obsession? We learn to tolerate the discomfort of change,
allow ourselves TIME to change, and we get up every time
    we fall.

Wishing you the courage, determination, and patience to
    overcome.

    It's possible!
