I can eat a lot of celery, salad, raw veg and alike, but what I crave is crisps and would really like to find a healthy alternative.
Anyone have any substitutes for that particular type of "nom nom nom loveliness" I would be eternally grateful
thanks

I'm a potato chip addict so I needed something crunchy, too. I really like Special K savory herb crackers. :-D0

If you like these then you will love them, Lightly salted Roasted Seaweed, Crisp Salty Only 60 calories for the whole package and they are extremely low in sodium 3% of your daily value. I buy them 20 at a time they are only a dollar at trader joe's. You just can't beat that.0

PopChips are amazing
22 of them for 120 calories! My favorite are the seasalt and vinegar ones! SO GOOD.
They aren't baked or fried, just apply pressure and heat until they "pop"0 -
Finncrisp !0

i've heard people suggest homemade kale chips. i'm not a chippy person, so i never looked into it, but i assume Google has the information you need.0

Quaker makes mini rice cakes that are flavored like chips. It's a great substitute for me!0

love the Special K Cracker Chips.... 27-30 chips are 110 calories. they do have 200+ mg of sodium though.0

I have made the roasted kale chips... if you do them right, they are great!0

Chips are my down fall.....I've been snacking on Pringles Stix (they come in a few flavours - my fav is jalapeño) and also Lays Baked chips which again come in different flavours - I find the dill pickle yummy. If you like cheezies, they have a baked Cheetos that come in the pre-portioned packages which are tasty as well.......ugg, it's only 8:52 a.m. and now I want CHIPS - haha! :drinker:0

if it's just for you, you can make your own - fat free, with a potato and a microwave

I've done this before, but I didn't have the parchment paper, so I lightly sprayed my plate with a little oil, just make sure to slice the potatoes thin (a mandolin would help)0 -
Brother's All Natural Potato Crisps!!!0

I like Seneca apple chips. I'm not sure if you can get them outside of the US though. So good!0

Food Should Taste Good Olive (140cals/10 chips) are amazingly good and so are Doctor Kracker Flatbreads in Pumpkin Seed Cheddar (100 cals each).
I'm all about quality over quantity!0 -
Is making your own an option? I just slice a potato super thin cover with olive oil spray place on baking sheet place in a 400* oven and then turn chips over after about 6 minutes or when they start to brown, after which lower oven to 275 and continue to turn every 6 minutes, cooking time is usually 24 to 30 minutes depending on your oven...
Season right out of oven, my fave is garlic parmesan0 -
Food should taste good has this great cracker chip thing. YUM YUM YUM. I like salty crispies too, my fav is from Trader Joes the multi grain veggie chips (But I don't think you have in the UK). Pita crisps are pretty good too.0

wow so many good alternatives thanks everyone
can't find the seaweed ones on waitrose website ... grrr
I will see if I can find some though as they are yummy !0 -
Just eat the normal crisps - just not a everyday thing. If I want to have some "empty calories" I just up the excercise.
Now if it was me I wouldn't bother with the chips, chocolates, crap food & all the other stuff we call food!! Food to me is sitting down to a plate of muscles in a garlic sauce. So my aim is chuck the crap and concentrate on real food.:bigsmile:0 -

i agree 12 for 90 calories in so many great flavors!0 -
Just love the fact that you put chip in brackets to cover the divide! I ate a Gregg's pasty and was bemoaning the calories and one of my American friends thought I meant a pastry like a Danish or something! I like snack a jacks as an alternative to crisps but do tend to just treat myself to something low calorie like wotsits or squares on rare occasions too.0

walkers baked crips / french fries
rice cakes are sooo good also!0 -
Nuts are a healthier alternative to the empty calories of potato chips. Also, nuts are very filling, unlike chips/crisps. Almonds are probably the best bang for the buck.0
