How about the parachute pants and Michael Jackson jackets?!
I remember my brother wearing the pants and how noisy they were.

It's been years since I've done the AquaNet thing. I can't believe I did that to my hair! I can't stand anything in it now. That was some good stuff...didn't matter how windy it was!

I wore my hair so big that I had to wash it and style it the night before, just to be sure I'd have enough hair spray buildup in it to get it to look "right" the next day. But it was a delicate balance, especially with hair as dark as mine, because if you got too much hair spray in it, then combed it, it turned white like George Washington's powdered wig.

I remember being one of the few girls who avoided tanning - outdoors or in a booth. My skin now thanks me.

I still have a little crush on Sebastian Bach.

I remember really digging the Sex Pistols, the Clash and the Ramones, and thinking the music was really good considering it was from ten years ago. Now it's from 30 years ago, and it still kicks butt. But music from the the late 90s or early 00s doesn't seem as "old" as music from the 70s did then.

The first time I heard someone discuss Euthanasia, I thought they were talking about Youths, in Asia. :embarassed:

Ah, my... why did I stop in this thread? Because I like to punish myself by reading things which make me feel ancient.

A small selection of my many memories of the 80's:

    * Getting cable television for the first time.
    * Watching MTV for the first time.
    * Watching the Challenger disaster one afternoon while sitting in class at elementary school.
    * Playing dodgeball and getting stung by a wasp.
    * Riding our bikes for miles and miles away from home. (This would never happen these days).
    * TV: Smurfs. GI Joe. Land of the Lost re-runs. Dukes of Hazzard and getting to stay up on Friday nights to watch Dallas afterward.
    * Leg warmers, ruffled skirts
    * Boat shoes with the laces twirled into those little bee-hive thingamajigs at the end.
    * Aqua Net used to make the "Swoop" bangs, which always requiring a curling iron after spraying to get the proper amount of singe and burning smell.
    * Throwing a little kid's backpack down into the sewer at the bus stop because he launched a cicada at me. Ah, the joys of 17-year cicada swarms.
    * Riding around with my friend after she got her license, with GnR blaring from the tinny speakers.
    * Buying go-go on vinyl: E.U. and Junkyard Band
    * Hanging the Purple Rain album insert on my wall.

Edit: How could I forget! The best commercial ever made, Jhoon Rhee Means Might for Right! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7PEMGuA6tw&feature=related

    Leggings
    Pastels
    Keds

    Mid-Late 80's:

The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, Sex Pistols
Doc Martens, pointy skull buckle boots, or victorian boots
    Lace and vintage dresses
    Krazy Kolor hairdye
Mowhawks and or hair teased out to there and Aqua Net hairspray
Black leather motorcycle jacket with spikes and your favorite bands painted on
    Fishnet stockings
    Rosaries and crosses
    Spike belts and bracelets
Ripped up tights worn as a shirt (so deathrock)

Actually, a lot of the late 80's stuff still applies. And I still love me some D2.
