I'm not by any stretch a fan of Paris Hilton. But she looks good in that photo posted. And she does NOT look like she weighs 115 lbs. I think it's pretty obvious Hollywood stars have "vanity scales" that automatically knock 20 lbs off, like they have vanity sizing so they can say they're a size 2 when they'd be a size 6 or 8 if they shopped at JC Penney.

Remember though that "the camera adds 10 lbs". This statement is absolutely true. I work in the film industry and have seen celebs like Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in real life. They are SOOO TINY in real life, but then you watch their movies and they look more normal. So I wouldn't doubt that in that photo Paris Hilton is around 115, but looks more like 125 in the photo.

Also, to get more technical, those kinds of paparazzi beach pictures are usually taken with wide-angle lenses, which will make the person look even bigger.

I don't think Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis look normal. They look tiny. Cute, but very tiny. Fragile.

I'm not saying that there aren't a lot of really scary, skinny women in Hollywood or on the runways. I'm just saying I don't believe everything I read, whether it's in People, IMDB, Playboy centerfolds, or someone's personal ad. To quote the great Dr House, "Everybody lies."

My friends call it "boy pounds." The weight you tell guys you weigh. If the smart, educated and not incredibly shallow women I call call my friends are sensitive enough to lie about their weight, you can bet your scale that celebs do it even more.

    marilyn monroe was 5ft 5 1/2, weighed 118lb and was 35/22/35 measurements.

does that sound like a size 16 to you?. She was a US 4 or 6 at her heaviest (uk 8/10)

Actually back in the day she was considered about a size 14 - but sizes have changed considerably since then!

And I just want to say one more thing....Marilyn Monroe!
One of the most beautiful women there ever has been. She wore a size 14. She is my role model.

Except that would be more like a today's size 6. I'm sorry, but it's the truth.

What I don't get is people on about 'curves' or being 'curvy'.

Don't all women have a waist, boobs, bum and hips? Just at different sizes. You can be 'curvy' at any size. I might be less 'curvy' than someone who weighs a lot less than me.

    This annoys me.

Also, who the hell wants to look like Paris Hilton?!

    Jus' sayin'.

Completely agree. Small ones, but my husband seems to like em. :)

Yeah, this made me upset. I am 5'8" and 125 and I have worked really hard to get here. I don't consider myself overweight, but now I still feel like I need to lose a few more pounds, even though I know it's probably silly.

Most of these celebrities are praised for being underweight, and they give everyone frustrating and unrealistic expectations.

Why would a guy ask how much you weigh? And if he didn't ask, why would the subject come up?

The BMI weight charts aren't always that accurate..I'd trust my dr telling me I'm in the healthy range rather than looking it up. Granite she is at a rather low weight for her height she may be perfectly healthy. I think articles on Hollywood ppl are always fake to get people goin and rant about how bad that is...unless Paris said these things I wouldn't believe it :)

I run a dating advice site, so I've met a lot of friends through that. And lots do internet dating. Some online dating sites ask your weight for the profile. The site I met my husband on had it listed. I didn't realize it as an optional question at first. Once I realized, I left it off. Especially after some moron met me and told me he "thought you'd be smaller." I was 103 lbs at the time. Any smaller and a gust of wind would have carried me off!

And online dating profiles bring about a whole 'nother debate... what constitutes as "average." Women tend to think of average as "the national average," ie, being a little overweight. Men think of it as "not Kate Moss." Then again, just about all men* claim to be 10 inches, so the truth gets stretched on both sides.

    * I should add that not all men make ANY claims in that regard. But the ones that do all claim to be tripods.

I don't care how much I weigh at the end! I just want to fit into at least a size 10 or 12! Never been there before!

This, and the fact that 13 year old models are used as high fashion ideals for women. There was an article last week on The Frisky about one of the hottest couture models--she is 13. Add cosmetics and you could never tell she was that young. Yet, this pre-puberty girl is toted as the ideal for grown women. I'm considered thin for my height, but always think I'm never thin enough.

I've noticed that about models in print. If you look at them closely, you can realize that they are just kids! It is sick! What is the matter with real women? Don't we have enough trouble with pedophiles, etc. already?? And yes, girls need REAL role models, not just fake boobs, liposuction, and botox to look up to! Ever go to a dermatologist these days to get a skin cancer check? Sheesh! It's like going to the supermarket: WHat look would you like to buy?!

I agree. Go to vintage shops to find the sizes of the 60's. NOT the same as today!
