Hi guys,
My weight loss journey has been slow and painful, I think I should be losing more. I've put the settings as sedentary as I have a desk job from 9-5.30 sometimes later. I workout mon-fri and sometimes my workouts are quite intense. It is possible I am doing too much cardio. I take weekends off exercise, and sometimes I drink a bit at weekends.
I've set my food diary to public - anyone fancy a look and telling me what you think? All constructive criticism welcomed!
Thanks,
xx

hey..sorry but i feel that you daily goal is a bit too much......it should be around 1200-1500 cal a day.....well that's what i think..0
-
I've programmed it for 1lb per week loss, but MFP moves the goal because I do so much exercise - the general consensus seems to be I should do what MFP says and eat back most if not all of the exercise calories.
Should I cut back on the exercise?

How tall are you?0

Why don't you have dinner regularly?
What I see is a lot of processed foods and not enough vegetables and fruits. That;s all I can help with!
Good luck!0 -
1) start tracking your sugar. It's a diet killer. Make sure all your sugar comes from fruit & veg, no refined sugars. Try not to be more that 30g over what mfp recommends.
2) exercise burns only calories. It does not compensate for eating chocolate bars and other things. Clean up your diet a little bit, have eggs for breakfast, salad, not a sandwich for lunch and protein with veggies for dinner.
3) stop doing so much exercise. I've been there, done that, and didnt belive people who said too much cardio isnt good. Well, for the past week, limited my cardio to walking only, 2lb loss already
4) Fruit is good, but it's pure sugar. Limit to 2-3 servings a day.
5) make sure all your carbs are wholegrain. It makes a big difference.
Hope that helps :flowerforyou:0 -
I have dinner every evening - although sometimes the food diary is sketchy is places!
I'm 5ft 9.5" inches tall.
My weight is about 174-175lbs at the moment and I'm not sure what my goal weight should be.

Go back and set your goals again, try 1.5lbs
How tall are you
Sorry but I think your intake is to high.
Cut back a little on all the carbs
I did not see your water intake
Good Luck you will be fine.
Way to go on the exercise.0 -
no no no... don't cut back on exercise....like when i really wanna lose weight i take in about 900cal a day and i burn about 1000 cal at the gym each day....and the results are great....i don't really follow what people say on eating to less cal or exercising too much..i think its all a myth.... you have to figure out how you body works....like if i consume 1200 cal a day as MFP advise me to do i barley see any weight change.. probably 1 kg in a month..it takes forever..try changing you diet and exercise a bit less and consume less and see how it goes...0

I'm 5ft 9.5"- sorry I should have said that at the start of the thread!!! Silly me!!!
I do drink a lot of water - as I exercise a lot, I drink like a fish!!!
Thank you, I agree and I think you're right, I've now changed the goal to 1.5 lbs per week and that's dropped the intake to 1,230 xx0 -
Hi .In my opinion the exercise is fine if it works for you but I think it can help if you have a rest day or a less taxing exercise day once a week. I would get try to avoid having so much sugar and eat more healthily . I feel the number of calories in your breakfast would be ok if they were from a more nutritional source but I am no expert. The number of calories looks quite high . It may be that you have gone wrong somewhere along the line with the way you set MFP up? As far as eating back the calories goes, that is what I am doing. I usually eat back most of my exercise calories but not always.0

I had a massive deficit of 1,000 on Tuesday and yesterday I felt weak and light headed! xx0 -

Thank you, I am now tracking sugar in my food diary, I will monitor the situation. If you have any breakfast ideas I'd love to hear them! Usually I have weetabix with skimmed milk xx0 -
your target calories per day seems good for your height, are you sure you are not over eating?
you appear to eat back your exercise calories are you calculating them right? a lot of people over estimate their excerise or forget to subtract the calories they would burn doing somthing else:
if I play on my PC for an hour I burn 200 calories 100 just living and 100 using my brian hands etc
if a go for a walk instead I burn 400 cals but have to subtract the 200 I would have burnt playing on my PC.0 -

I've got very strict with the food diary now, and unless I'm pretty sure of what's in there, I try to avoid it!!!
I use a HRM in the gym, so I'm pretty sure it must be accurate, and I don't count stuff I do outside of the gym, like the short but brisk walk to work from my house, or cleaning and stuff.
Some really useful stuff here, thanks guys!!!

Are you drinking enough water?0

Are you drinking enough water?
I think so, I should start recording that too probably!!! I keep a big jug beside me at work and I try to drink that throughout the day, I also try and drink lots at home - I have another big jug there!!!
I'll start recording it!!!

Hi!
I'm the same height as you and I'm aiming to get my weight down to 65kilos (approx 144lbs) which was my pre-pregnancy weight, but I'm hoping to be a bit more toned than I used to be.
I won't pretend I know much about diet or exercise, but if I were you I'd do a little less exercise per session per day, and do 6 days exercise rather then 5. I can't help thinking that it would be more balanced. I eat about 1400 calories a day and do 30 mins to an hour of exercise a day. If I don't do structured exercise it's because I've been running around doing groceries, walking the dog, or cleaning, and I'm generally busy with my 5 month old. I still allow myself my mini bar of chocolate or a glass of wine at the weekend, but I've been loosing a steady 1kilo per week so far and I'm happy with that.
Don't know if that's any help, but I said I'd reply since we're the same height anyway.
Good luck!0 -

yes -100 cal a day...900 cal intake and 1000 cal burned off...i am a model so when we have photo shoot or up coming events we basically train in that manner....because it gives very GOOD results....it only takes 2 hours of gym work to burn 1000 cal for me....like i lose about 3-3.5kg in 2 weeks if i follow the above....yes at times you do feel tired but i sleep for 10hours everyday lol....so i think that helps0 -

Is there anything in particular that you do in the gym? Like what activity do you do? xx0 -

this ......is just plain bad advice. Sorry to be so harsh, but look at what you are saying, first you say that when you want to lose weight you do negative calorie diets (you burn more calories with exercise alone than you take in in food, not to mention maintenance calories, this is very unhealthy) then you called something that has worked for thousands of people on MFP a myth, without giving any reason, then you call 1/2 lb per week "barley any weight change" which, is straight up false, especially for someone who is not obese. Essentially you're saying "MFP doesn't work, my way works and everyone following MFP is wrong".0 -

Yeah I think I agree with SHBoss1673 on this. I don't want to start any crazy and unsustainable eating habits, I just want to be healthy and happy with my shape xx0 -
