Anyone can join if you go by BF% instead of lbs. to measure your success.
Here's the challenge--lose at LEAST 5% BF by September 12, 2011. That's -1% every 2 weeks. Piece of cake, right? Well, as long as you stick to your diet and exercise.
1. Measure your start BF% and post it with your commitment to the challenge (which you can join or leave at any time).
2. Every week, post how many days you stayed at or under your calorie limit and how many exercise calories you burned that week. It's okay if you have a bad week, we all do once in a while!
3. Every 2 weeks, post your BF%. At the end, whoever wins gets...well, brownie points. And a great body!
Who's with me?!
My start BF%: 37.1%
Goal BF% by Sept. 12: 32%

I am totally in! I'm not sure if I can lose 5% body fat, but I will certainly try my hardest!
Staring BF %: 24% (it was at 23.8, so I'm rounding up). I would love to hit 21%, less would be preferable too!
I'm happy to motivate and cheer anyone else on. This will be way fun!0 -
I'm in. I'll go to they gym tomorrow and measure my current BF%. Last time it was measured (a couple of weeks ago), I think I was at 33.1%. But I want to start off clean and honest!0
-
Welcome! If you have low BF already and you don't think you can lose 5% it's still ok for you to join But for people who have like 50% BF 5% shouldn't be a big deal lol.0
-
Great Group! First group I have ever joined. I'm in will post measurements tomorrow.0

SBF% = 23.3
GBF% = 18.3
Used Accumeasure calipers and was suprised how accurate it was to online calculator and measurements taken at gym.0 -
Awesome goals everyone Let's do dis!!0

Thanks for starting, this is what I need since I don't really want to lose too much weight, only fat.
SBF%
Crappy home analyzer: 21-24%
Gym analyzer: 16%
I think I'm somewhere in between 17-18%BF, as long as they both drop, I don't care what the numbers are but I'd like to lose 5%
GBF%
October 1: Like to see the home analyzer read 15-18% and the gym one to read 11%0 -

Sweet! Welcome!0 -
You guys are not going to believe this, but thanks to going under extra on my calories this weekend, I've already lost down to 36% BF, lol! I know it's true because my measurements are down as well... And I feel so much leaner and tighter! Maybe I can keep this streak up haha!0

Cool!
SBF 33%
GBF 25%
A trainer at they gym pinched my fat for me and it turns out that my home scale is accurate0 -
what kind and model of scale do u have?0
-
I'm going to do this challenge. I will check my BF% in the morning. I go by the handheld and the scale because it was explained to me that the handheld doesn't really measure you correctly pass the upper body and vice versa for the step on scale.0
-
Ok I took my body fat this morning. Between the two of them I assume my body fat is somewhere around 34%.
SBF%:
Handheld Monitor: 29.9%

Awesome Welcome to the group guys!0
-
Good Lord, I'm already down to 35%! I really hope I'm measuring right haha!0
-
mine's all over the map, but my average is going down so far, probably testing too much :ohwell:0

Next check-up is on Monday, the 11th. Just post what you did this week to get to your goal; how many days you stayed under on your calories and how many calories you burned through exercise in the past week. If you have new BF% results already, feel free to post those too Have a great, healthy weekend!0

Hello everybody!
I checked my body fat percentage today (just for fun). I started at 23.8 I believe.... and today..
I was at 23.5! This is a huge deal for me, and I am super excited about it. I also lost a pound as well- I've been working my behind off and its finally paying off.
What I did this week to get to my goal:
Nutrition wise: Eating larger portions for meals rather than snacks, upping the protein and whole grain carbs
Fitness wise: Upping the intensity of my workouts, increasing the strength of my core (I'm seeing progress)!
How many calories I burned through exercise this past week: 6446 calories
How many days stayed under calories: All 7! I am extremely pleased with 4 out of the 7 days (eating enough veggies, fruits, etc)
Hope everyone else is doing well. Here are my goals for this next week!
1. Get body fat percentage to high 22% or low 23%
2. Maintain weight for this week (but losing a bit is okay too!)
3. Eat steady amount of calories 6 days this week, try for 5/7 happy with nutrition days
4. Eat one more piece of fruit or veggie serving every day
5. Smile and realize that nobody is perfect!
This is such a great idea, I am so happy to be a part of this. Feel free to add me as a friend if you are interested in an extra cheerleader!
See you next week!

Awesome job Jam!
My body fat percentage has dropped to 34.5% over this week. I'm not sure how it happened but I was under my goal 5 out of 7 days and I lowered my calorie goal mid-way, so I guess I'm just scorching fat like crazy (I think my metabolism is greater than MFP gives me credit for). I burned a total of 1247 exercise calories last week through exercise. So this past week was, in a word, AWESOME
I love going by BF%, it's so much more encouraging than the scale! I still use the scale but just as a (very unreliable) tool.0 -
Woo hoo! Congrats to you- didn't you start at 36%? That is incredible progress!
You are indeed scorching fat like crazy! What have you been doing this week that helped you make so much progress?
So impressive, and AWESOME indeed!0 -

Actually I started at 37.1%. I purposely ate a lot less than usual this week because we were low on money and food, so I was trying to conserve. Also, I moved more than I gave myself credit for, I think.0 -
My home scale has been reading anywhere from 18.5 to 23 so I don't trust it too much, but it looks like the overall numbers are going down. Today it was 21.5. I take pictures of myself every sunday to see progress, usually not too much but hopefully in a month will be significant. I will try to get an updated Gym analysis start of August.

Gym analyzer: 16% (July 2)

Okay... So I tried to fix my old BF scale at home that I thought was handicapped forever... And the lowest BF% it will give me is 41.3%. I'm not sure if that's accurate or not but if it is, that's really depressing0
-
Forget my last post, I'm not going to worry about what that scale says. It always did measure me high anyway.
Don't forget to post your progress on Monday!0 -
No worries about what you saw today. Are you using the same tool to measure you on a weekly basis? Also, our body fat percentage fluctuates so much throughout the day. We can have less BF if we are dehydrated or haven't eaten recently. If you measure yourself right after a meal and haven't worked out for 48 hours, its going to be a teensy bit higher. My suggestion is measure yourself first the in the morning right when you wake up and haven't eaten anything and have yet to work out (if possible). Will give you an update on my progress tomorrow- SO excited to hear how you are doing!

Howdy howdy!
Any body fat percentage believers still around? How is everyone doing out there?
I started with a BF% of 23.8%
Last week I got it down to 23.5%
This week I have it at 23.2%
Yes, its progress, but is moving sooo slowly. I will say however that this week I lost another pound. Since I started at the beginning of June I have lost 6 pounds- so I suppose I can't complain! I am hoping that this week I get to 22% which is my personal "best" and my goal!
I burned a total of 7196 calories (woo hoo) last week through exercise. Food wise I have done great this week, better than last week. am wondering if joining this group has something to do with it? I ate really well 5 out of 7 days. Hoping this week I eat a bit better!
Can't wait to hear how everyone is doing!

Update day!! Great job Jam!
I did not do too well on my exercise or my eating this week; I only burned 567 calories and I only stayed under about 3-4 days. However, my BF% is now 32.8% (I started a different measurement technique today). I'm going to set a new goal since I seem to be losing fat so rapidly.
SBF%: 37.1%
CBF%: 32.8%
GBF%: 28% or lower
28% would put me right in the middle of the "acceptable" range for BF according to the American Council for Exercise.0 -
My scale says 19 - 21% which is close to last week, lost 2 lbs, ~2200 calories burnt from exercise (a little every day) although I do hiit which should burn alot more than mfp gives me credit for. I stayed under calories every day - diet very good, even though I drank 2 beer on 2 different days. I take pictures every sunday, I thought I lookd a little better last week - may have been the little bit of sun/tan that I got or water retention variations..
Stuck at work for next 2 weeks and won't be able to run outside in the swamp. Won't be able to weigh in either. Going to have to keep the diet even tighter - probably decrease calorie ceiling slightly, but try to come close to capping it out since I want to maintain weight, but won't be able to do as much cardio at work...
Looking for some 15-16 BF%'s (consistently) on my home scale..0
