Getting enough protein

Ya, doing a little more research on this, I think my nutritionist is NUTS! Yes, I want to lose weight, but this seems a bit extreme to me. I am going to get what I get for protein from the shakes and my meal and not stress about getting the 125 g.
They probably got the figure from one of the sites like this page on about.com
http://exercise.about.com/cs/nutrition/a/protein_2.htm
which quotes the following calculation
1. Weight in pounds divided by 2.2 = weight in kg
2. Weight in kg x 0.8-1.8 gm/kg = protein gm.
From your start weight of 277lb seems he was using 1.0gm/kg calculation
I think you are going about it right, as its probably meant for someone exercising for fitness not for losing weight
On the figures people quoted for stuff, the shake i use myprotein is 125cal for 25g protein, so 125g would be 625cal, so it is possible (say 3 shakes + breakfast & evening meal (with 50g protein source), but that would be a strict diet)0
