Invisalign

I go into the orthodontist to get molds for Invisalign on Friday, and I am nervous! I'm not nervous about getting the molds, it's the 18 months that follow that make me anxious. Has anyone had Invisalign before? I'd like to hear what your experience was like!

I've been wearing Invisalign braces for about a year now and I love them! There are still friends, family and coworkers who have no idea that I wear braces. I take them out to eat and brush your teeth and wear them all other times. Or if I have a special occasion when I don't want to hassle with them, I won't wear them. You have a lot of flexibility with these braces.

I will admit I hate the process of switching trays. You wear one set of trays for two weeks, then move to the next set which shifts your teeth. Switching trays is painful and the next few days that follow are pretty bad too. It hurts to put them in and take them out and your teeth feel loose. But once your teeth "set" to the new trays, it's not so bad. The very first set of trays are probably the absolute worst. Your body has to adjust to having something in your mouth all the time, the inside of your mouth gets sore from the trays rubbing the inside of your jaws, and you have to get used to taking your trays in and out at random places whenever you need to eat.

Overall, they're awesome especially for adults who don't want the "metal mouth" look. They're discrete and easy. Good luck with your Invisalign!

Thanks! I hadn't considered the loose teeth feeling, eek! But I'm sure it's worth it!
