Terri - You are going to love Hip Hop Abs!!! I have to get more!

I did the Turbo Jam Cardio Party 2, which I have not done in a while. Now I remember why. The workout starts out good, but then fizzles. It's either she was taking it easy or she couldn't think of combos that really got you going. Strange. I think it is the only workout in the collection that I don't like so much. It does have some good sections so I do it once in a while, but I feel I need to add another workout of some kind later.

Let me know how you like Punch, Kick, Jam. I believe this one is around 50 min.

    Hi Ladies,

The only Trubo Jam I tried was Cardio Party 2. After 15 minutes, I decided it was not for me. I've been thinking I was too hasty in my decision to trade it. What do you ladies think a good TJ starter is for someone who has no rhythm & slow feet?

Hi! I have not tried Cardio Party 2, but from every review I have read it is not the best of the collection.

When I started TJ, I took classes at the local Y. It was tough, and I almost gave up because I could not keep up. But, truly, after about 2 weeks of determination, it started to get easier. Now I love it, can't do without it!
If you can get your hands on a copy of the 'Learn and Burn', which is part of the original Turbo Jam set (I picked up my copy on Amazon for under $20) It can really help you learn the moves, at a slower pace and with more explanation.

If you are interested, I am not keeping my copy of 'Piloxing' as it does not move at a fast enough pace for me (not to imply that it is not a good workout, it is) I would be happy to send it to you if you want to give it a try. There is not as much 'dancy' in it, much more emphasis on the Pilates part of the blend. You can look at a clip here:

Hi Terri - I'll have to look for the TJ Learn and Burn.

Walking Cardio Shape-Up Max mini review

    Chris Freytag
    Circuit (walking / strength intervals)
Equipment: 3-8 LB dumbbells (mat for ab work)

This DVD by ExerciseTV has 2 walking style circuit workouts. I did Walk & Sculpt (40 min) using 5 pound dumbbells. The workout consists of cardio/ weights/ cardio/ weights and finally a (too) short stretch section. The walking portion used a good variety of moves and both strength portions were total body. One of my favorites. Mostly low impact - intermediate. As with most (all?) ExerciseTV DVDs – the production is no frills (premixes or music only).

Bea, another suggestion for a good kickboxing workout would be the 10 Minute Solution: Kickboxing Bootcamp. No dancing at all, but a great instructional workout!

I ended up running again today, instead of doing a dvd. We have company for an extended period, so my workout time/space is very limited. The good news is that I busted the 3 mile barrier and think I will enter my first 5k!

Also have Hip Hop Abs on its way, really looking forward to this one! I am on the look out for a good Tai Chi and/or Yoga dvd as well as something for some strength training.

Yay! I think you are going to love it! I found Fat Burning Cardio Toning by the Firm which is a fast paced band workout. It actually is pretty good! I'm starting to like the workouts that combine cardio/toning at the same time. Kettlenetics is good too.

Listing my workouts up front has been a good exercise for me. It makes me use different DVDs .

Mon: Rock’n Tone 1 mile / Burn Fat Fast (toning)
Tue: Punch Up Your Walk (add 1 mile at lunch) - Leslie Sansone
Wed: Walking Cardio Shape-Up - Chris Freytag
Thu: Fat Burning Yoga (add 1 mile at lunch) - Sara Ivanhoe
Fri: Walk & Stretch - Kathy Smith
Sat: Bootcamp Walk - Leslie Sansone
    Sun: tba

Last night's BURN FAT FAST - Denise Austin was kind of a dud. I did the strength training "pre-mix" it was OK, I liked the compound moves (upper/lower body combinations).

The problem - the warm-up was really lacking cueing wise (common complaint with Denise) ..... This lack of cueing will probably kill any chance of my being able to get thru the cardio "pre-mix" for this workout.

I am a fan of the two-for-one, lol, so any workout where I can double up on the return on time investment is a winner for me! I will look into the Firm, I like band workouts!

Week 5: This is Turbo week!

Monday: Turbo Sculpt-40 minute toning w/5 lb weights. I like this workout and will probably do it at least once a week. Con: No cardio so will have to squeeze that in. I added a 60 minute walk in the evening.

Tuesday: Turbo Jam: Punch, Kick, Jam. 50 minutes of Turbo goodness!

    Wednesday: Run Day

Thursday: 20 minute Turbo Jam Workout + Ab Jam

Friday: Turbo Cardio Party 1 (this is a challenge as my DVD freezes, but I love this workout!)

    Saturday: Run Day

    Sunday: off

    Hi Terri and TeaBea,

I had a bad week last week. That cold would not go away. I actually did a few workouts, but by the end of the week I didn't so much. I do feel better now. Here is my week schedule:

    Sunday - Hike
    Monday - Off
Tuesday - Kettlenetics 40 minutes - this workout is tough to get through. I did it!
Wednesday - Turbo Jam 20 (short on time)
    Thursday - Turbo 3T
Friday - Hip Hop Abs Cardio 30 min.
Saturday - Bike ride or Dance Party
    Sunday - Something outside

I hope you are both doing well.

TeaBea - Are you liking your workouts?
Terri - did you get your Hip Hop Abs yet?

Hi! Glad you are feeling better. I had a freak cold, myself, that took some of the wind out of my workout sails at the beginning of last week. I am all better now!

I changed my mind on HHA for now, because I love Turbo Jam SO much, I decided to bump up to the next level and will be ordering Turbo Fire the first part of Sept. I most likely will add HHA at some point, though.

    This week:

    Sunday: Off
Monday: Turbo Jam, Punch, Kick, Jam
    Tuesday: Turbo Sculpt
Wednesday: Run day (turned into run/walk)
Thursday: 20 minute Turbo + 20 min of 10 min solution Tone Trouble Zones (this is a band workout)
    Friday: Turbo Jam, PKJ
Saturday/Sunday: Camping with hopefully a bit of hiking

    Tuesday: Hip Hop Abs
    Wednesday: Run Day

Well yay to the HHA!!! Let me know what you think. I hope you have a good time camping. I'm going to be at a country club. My fiance's parents have a place in Wyoming. I'll be doing tennis, hikes and workouts at their gym. I might get a massage too!

I have been really bad at logging in lately. I'm still doing my thing, but I don't know why I'm not so motivated to log in. Perhaps it is the fact that despite all the hard work, nothing has changed. I said I wasn't going to weigh myself, and I haven't, but my clothes are still the same too. It is a little disappointing when nothing changes after working out and keeping track of calories religiously.

So far turning 40 has not been such a picnic for me.

I'll keep going though. I have been rowing and doing kettlebell workouts. I will post my Tue-Sat Week when I get back. I think I'm going to need to go harder core for the rest of the year to finally get something to happen. If nothing still doesn't budge, I guess I will see the doc at the end of the year. I feel fine otherwise though.

I think this thread has been 6 weeks. I'm wondering if we need to renew our challenge or try a new thread topic? I don't really know how to change the name.

Anyway, I am trying a 6 days per week with 40 min cardio/20min. ST per day to see how this works for me. It seems like I get the best results when I do cardio and ST on the same day instead of just one or the other. I'm still looking out for workouts that do both.

Today I did the Total Body Hip Hop Abs workout. I tried it with bands instead of weights and it definitely made some of the moves more challenging. Ow! Great workout with head to toe action! Shaun T makes it fun since he is a goof ball.

This week, I'm going to do:

Monday: Fat Burning Cardio Toning and some hiking
Tuesday: Kettlenetics 40 minutes with some extra ST in the day
Wednesday: TJ Cardio Party remix with weighted gloves and a Body Electric ST workout
Thursday: Dance Party and TJ Booty Sculpt and abs
Friday or Saturday: Bike ride and 10 minute Target Solutions (band work)

I'm also going to attempt to end the day with 20 minutes of Yoga or stretching of some kind. I'm feeling a little wound up muscle wise these days.

What are your plans for the week?

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend too!

I am up for a new challenge, if you are! I am thinking of getting a hula hoop and a jump rope, lol, just for fun :)

Good idea on increasing ST, I need to do that, as well. The TJ workouts are amazing for reshaping and toning, but every birthday I have seems to create a more stubborn 'jiggle in my wiggle'.

I haven't been able to actually try HHA, but am hoping that I will finally get it in this week! Jeeze, it has been a PITA trying to get to this workout, lol!

Yoga to end the day is a great idea, one I have made noises about, but so far have not done. My issues with Yoga DVD's, are that a lot of the poses are challenging to watch on screen and maintain properly. Do you have any recommendations?

    My plans for the week:

    Monday: Run day
    Tuesday: HHA or TJ
Wednesday: Turbo Sculpt or 10 min solution w/band
    Thursday: TJ
    Friday: HHA
    Saturday: Run day

    Have a great week!

Let's move it to another thread to get more people. What challenge do you want to do before we create the new thread?

Today I did the Cardio/Buns&Thighs/Legs of Shape's Toning - Bikini Ready All Year Round. This is a great workout! I think I found it at one of those discount department stores for $3. Money well spent! The cardio is a quick 20-30 min (lost track of the time) and it really made me sweat. The toning/strength training puts a great deal of focus on each area. Each section (didn't do abs and upper) is around 15 min. You get a great hour workout out of this one!

Can you tell I liked it?

I am open to suggestion on the challenge-how do you feel about hula hooping? LOL! I am going to pick one up this weekend. It is a really fun way to work the waist and burn calories.

Sounds like a great workout! I love a workout that give me a big return on investment.

I have done HHA a couple of times. And it was hysterical, lol. I plan on rotating it in periodically, it is definitely challenging in a fun way! I like to add the 6 minute routine in at the end of other workouts.

I'm not sure what the challenge should be. All I know is I saw a show about celebrities that are 40+ in great shape. If they can do, why not me. I'm still struggling to get the weight off.

What about a 30 day challenge of something. Can you tell I don't have an idea yet?
