Seriously, HOW do you get through the whole not being able to walk like a normal person and aching muscles? Putting me right off doing exercise!!

It gets easier!! You're body will get accustomed to exercise, and the aches and pains won't be as bad.
On the other hand, if you are in a ton of pain, maybe you're pushing yourself to hard. However, that's really hard to tell objectively. Stick with it for another week or so and see how you feel.

Believe it or not, go back to the gym and work out again. And add some slow, gentle stretching to your workout.0

Protein helps your muscles recoup faster. Try a protein shake after your workouts.
Plus, when you think it isn't worth it, just remember how you want to look!0 -
It gets better! Take ibuprofen and drink lots of water. The first week (or sometimes month) of hard workouts, are just that HARD. But they get easier.
I actually like the mild ache I have after most workouts now and feel like I didn't do enough if they don't have some ache.0 -
Definitely stretch & make sure you're taking in some protein after a tough workout. If it's a sharp, acute pain, you're pushing yourself too hard and should ease off. If it's a dull ache, you'll learn to love the burn and will know that you're working on building some fabulous muscles!0

Water, Yerba Mate, NSAIDS, nourish yourself. Eat an antiflammatory diet devoid of known allergens. Fueling for recovery is key!0

Soaking in an epsom salt bath also helps with the soreness.0

It gets easier. After about a week, you wont feel the soreness so much. I like when I feel sore tho, I feel like I had a great workout the day before.0

From what I have read, if you are sore after a workout then the next day do some low intensity cardio to get the blood moving again and to flush the latic acid out. You might think this is craziness if you are really achy but I've tried it and it works. Also- if you are sore after every workout you may not be doing the best service to your body. Try dialing it back just a little to give your muscles time to recover.0

You have to work through it. I started 30 DS a few weeks ago and I thought I was going to die after days 1-4 but it gets easier. I am still a little sore especially when I push really hard but it is nothing like it was. Push through it and do not stop.0

Chocolate milk helps a ton! So does drinking a nice warm beer! You could also get a bike. No/Low impact on the joints. Great cardio and if you are in decent shape and live about 15 miles from work great way to commute.0

I'd suggest lowering the impact of your workouts, AFTER you've given your body a chance to rest. Soreness is a good thing. Pain is not. It's your body's way of telling you something's not right. And definitely drink a lot of water. Especially right after exercise, to help flush out the lactic acid.0

Sometimes I'm so sore that when I get up from sitting too long I sound like an 80 year old moaning and groaning. But I know I must have worked hard to feel this way so they are good moans and groans.0

I'm walking like i'm 6 months pregnant, to stop my thighs from screaming!! My arms are a nice sore but my legs...they don't want to work!!0

always push yourself hard but remember if you are really sore after 2 days you have pushed too far, per my trainer....stretching does help relieve the pain believe it or not....keep on doing what you are doing...0

here's a thought - if you don't ever exercise again, and continue to gain weight, having achy muscles and trouble walking will become an inescapable way of life.0

The first few times you push your body harder than it's used to are the worst. So long as it's soreness and some stiffness, but not sharp or severe pain or inability to move your joints, then you're probably just experiencing the normal initial soreness.
My personal recommendation: Warm up for several minutes with some light, low-impact aerobics. Then stretch a little. Complete your workout, and then do some more stretching, this time a bit deeper, but be careful not to be too strenuous.
When I was sore, I still worked out and once my body got warmed up, the soreness melted away and I was able to complete my workout just fine.0 -

2) Also drink TONS of water/fluid! Help your body repair those muscles & they will get "unsore" quicker (yes I know not a word :devil: )
3) Also try a protein shake or unsalted/lightly salted nuts after your workout (give your body some "free" protein to help get the repairs done easier/faster)0 -
when I feel sore I feel better as I know I have had a good work out and I have attacked the fat...x0
