Hi does anyone know what cereal has the lowest calories that you can get in the UK? I usually shop at Asda, tesco and Aldi.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

I don't know about lowest cal, but I think the healthiest (low salt and sugar content) are Shredded Wheat (prob the best) and Weetabix (I eat these most mornings and love them). I used to eat Bran Flakes before I found out they had a ton of sugar, plus they don't fill me up very much for the 30g portion size.0

36g of Quaker Oats original with skimmed milk is 189 calories. It's filling and satisfying.0

I can't believe how little 30g is! i bought the special k cereal to go and it was pointless there was so little of it!!!
Thanks i will get some weetabix!0 -
I would plump with the Oats....they lower cholesterol too0

Oh, I also second the porridge, the most filling for sure!0 -
I love oat-so-simple - but only because I'm too lazy to add my own 'extras' to my porridge.0
-
I would have porridge most days through the winter with a banana or some tinned prunes and ground linseed - made with water but with a splash of milk when cooked. In the summer (that's a joke!) I've been having fruit and yoghurt, or lately I've been having Nestle Cheerios - I find they are lovely with fruit or raisins in.0
-
Forgot to add, when I started weight watchers I was having puffed wheat - it's mainly air so you can have a big bowl for not many calories - not particularly filling though0
-
I don't know, but probably the one that tastes like cardboard or dust0

lately ive been making a large chocolate oat pancake it fills me up for around 4 hours it has :
30g porrage oats
15g chocolate chips
25g plain flour
2tsb of sweetner
water (to stick it together)
and a flavour such as cinomen or vanilla
all i can say is LUSH0 -

this stuff, with splenda and skimmed milk. A portion is 15g because its so light, thats a decent portion, but even if you doubled it its still low cal, but for a big bowl.
just unsweetened sugar puffs tbh0 -

Whole Grain! Whole Grain! Weetabix are great.0 -
Porridge - it keeps you filled up!
My serving of porridge is 354 Kcals, including golden syrup and ground cinnamon. I work out in the morning, so probably expend a lot of my energy between breakfast and lunch. I have no need to eat before lunch, have tried other cereals, but I end up peckish about 11.0 -
isnt 354 cals worth of porridge and golden syrup probably one of the highest cal cereals lol?
and chocolate pancakes??
tasty im sure, but the OP did specifically ask for the lowest calorie ones, not just for general breakfast ideas0 -
Bran Flakes are definately up there- great for me with my oat allergy :-) x0

Granted it is, but it fills me up, so I don't have any mid morning snack. Toast, with jam & butter is about 250kcal- for one slice, shreddies, 40g with milk is 209kcal- and 40g is a tiny bowl! I was suggesting an alternative, because low calorie doesn't necessarily mean the best fuel for your body first thing.0 -
Hint for those people who think 30g is a small portion: get smaller bowls. Seriouy, this is plenty to fill you up: it just looks small!0

I do agree with the above poster. If you are active then breakfast is one of the best meals for loading calories... And the evening is the worst time.0

Well my favs are Weetabix with a few sultanas, rice krispies if I need a big full bowl and porridge in the winter. To reduce calories I have my cereal with water rather than milk, it took a while to get used to it but now I don't miss milk now. Like the sound of those pancakes, how many calories? Nice for a weekend treat.0

I definitely have to agree with Weetabix or porridge. My favourite thing is porridge made with half water, half skimmed milk with half a banana cut up in it before you heat it. The banana goes all gooey and you can stir it in when it's cooked - it's sweet enough to not have to add any honey or sugar too. Delish0

A great breakfast (I think) is hot oats, like Readybrek, 108 cals for 30 grammes (and that's quite a lot, it weighs nothing that stuff) and then another 49 cals for 100ml low-fat milk. I usually add some raisins or chopped up banana as well.
Fills me up for hours.
I'm sure the likes of Special K would be even lower in cals, but I'd be hungry again only an hour later.0 -
-
Have a protein shake fruit smoothie, I usually have blackcurrents (frozen- and full of antioxidants) and banana flavoured whey protein with skim milk. This is only about 250 calories, and provides me with around 30 g protein to start of my day well.0
-
i never stick to just a 30gram portion, or i would be hungry by half past 9! i generally go for either 1.5 servings or 2, depending on the cereal. Cheerios are quite low in cals.0
-
Not the lowest by any means but i have Jordans Crunchy Oat Granola - Raisin & Almond. Its about 255 cals for 50g including 100ml semi skimmed milk. I tend not to snack between breakfast and lunch when i have this.0

Im still hungry 2 hours after a bowl of porridge tbh. The only breakfast that keeps me going for hours is a proper fry-up, but thats certainly not slimline0 -
I always have rolled oats (around 50g) and a chopped apple with some cinnamon for flavour. It's around 320 cals I think. But if I do my exercise in the morning, I need a proper breakfast.
In order not to be hungry again by the time i get to work, i tendto eat there, so the time between breakfast and lunch is shorter.0 -
I have 30 g of special K topped with the same of museli , with semi skimmed milk - it's around 290 cal but keeps me full until lunch time, and I find a decent breakfast helps keep me on track for the rest of the day.0
