This does not happen to me. However, I get severe PMS 2 weeks before that hits me way harder. I don't currently have any coping mechanisms. I don't find myself overly hungry or craving things, I just get seriously tired and headachey. But I'm interested in others that have a similar problem to me.

Someone said nookie - couldn't have said it better myself! And if you're unaccompanied, just... improvise. The uterine contractions of orgasm (and the prostaglandins in semen) help to counteract the cramps associated with menstruation. It also helps your uterus expel the endometrium more quickly (the contractions, I mean).

Being physically active. Running burns out my aggression and irritability!

^ That. I try to avoid people that I know will aggravate the &^%$ out of me (not always avoidable, but I can handle myself in short spurts). I also crave chocolate like you wouldn't believe, so I resort to Nature Valley Granola Thins covered in dark chocolate and skinny cow ice cream. Last month I lost weight on TOM. I'm curious to see how next month is going to be!

I LOVE those Nature Valley Granola Thins covered with dark chocolate......but I never want to stop at just one!!!

I have absolutely no symptoms whatsoever from my TOM. It comes every month on the dot and ends within 3-4 days. VERY EASY! :)

Brb sending this thread to all my female friends. Lots of them are really irritable during/before their TOM, and I'm an always happy guy, so I have have to leave them alone until they feel better. T_T

I personally don't experience TOM directly, however, I deal with the indirect effects of it when living with my wife. What I do is I crush up a Midol and slip it into her food every month for a week. Then I tell her to go check out MFP forums since there is a TON of TOM questions on here. I suggest MFP open a TOM FAQ section.

Water. The more you drink the less you retain. I lost a pound last TOM. Also i switched from disposable pads to Momma cloth. The chemicals in disposable pads and tampons make your TOM longer and cramps worse. Google momma cloth if you are interested, it's not the appropriate place for me to go into details lol. Or message me :)

Excercise. It' the last thing anyone wants to do during the TOM, but excercising really reduces the pain and crabbiness.

    I agree.

Before i found this site i ate everything, yelled at the kids, cried everyday, got depressed, and mainly ruined my life for 2 weeks. Then i'd get better and start all over....

    Thats why i ask!

Love the idea about going on a higher diet, it must really work!!

Other than the midol dose, i agree, us girls should have a place to talk about this!

I guess that I should also say this: if it's bad, see your doctor. Undiagnosed food allergies kept me miserable and made my life impossible. They affected every organ of my body. Eliminating those foods completely corrected my issues with endometriosis and have made the PCOS all but vanish. It took 12 years to find the cause, but I'm so glad that I did. Best of luck!

nookie. It gets rid of the cramps and the crabbiness.

What she said...works every time. The best cure for cramps is "O".

Yup, this. cures headaches, migraines, general aches and pains...as long as it's gooood.

I knew this worked but I didn't know why. I learn something new here all the freaking time! Thanks!

Speaking of men jumping in on TOM talks, I also find that getting a man to buy a box of tampons alsways makes TOM feel better, seriously, I've done it a few times and I feel fantastic the entire he's out buying them and I'm sitting on the couch watching something awful. It is a little mean so don't do it that often...only during a truly terrible week.

My doctor put me on prometrium...its a naturaly progesterone that has totally helped improve my symptoms including crabbiness... It's been my life saver! It does not totally help with the cravings but I add chromium for that expecially during the crazy phase.

I go on with my life because women have been bleeding since time began and there's no use kvetching about it. You still have to be nice to everyone around you, wear the clothes you have in your closet, exercise and exist.

I'm planning on going to see a naturopathic allergy specialist to do an allergy elmination-- it;s very expensive but i have a feeling totally worth it...

I drink lots of water and exercise as much as possible. I also avoid caffeine starting the week before. It helps with cramping.
