The 25 Golden Rules of Running

Hi I'm new . I completed the C25K last August right before I found out I was pregnant with my daughter (my 3rd child...I have a 2 and 4 YO boy). I realized something was "off" when my body wouldnt let me run for more then 2 minutes straight before feeling completely exhausted. I had my daughter on May 14th and just started the program again. I'm on Week 3 even though I competed it over a week ago. I had to take a break bc my knees hurt so bad that I was limping. It was mostly my right knee. Anyway, I gained about 50 pounds with this pregnancy and have about 20 to lose. I'll start Week 3 again tomorrow and I'll do M-W-F with some strength training and ab work as well.0
-
I'm repeating week 4....at this rate I'll be at the same pace as most of the group!0
-
Ok...so I repeated Week 4 Day last night, it was getting discouraged because I had not completed that week successfully. Well, I did it last night! It was a successful run. I am looking forward to conquering day two tomorrow!!!0
-
Hi everyone! Hope everyone made it thru week 2! I did not.... I was on vacation last week and did not want to run on the gravel roads! So I'm going to do week 2 starting today. Looking forward to hitting the treadmill after work today!

I plan on achieving my goal this week by: Making no excuses as to why I can't complete W3 of C25K or do crunches!
Will post my before, during, and after later on today (i plan on running at 7:30pm today).

I plan on achieving my goal this week by: C25K & JM 30DS & SQUATS, SQUATS, & MORE SQUATS0 -
Just finished D1 of W3 and my legs are numb (in a good way  )
Before: I made myself a week 3 podcast with some of my fav songs and was ready to start running!
During: I felt excited and scared. As I was completing the 90sec walk I was afraid to start the 3 min. jog. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it! To my surprise I was successful! For the second interval for the 3minute jog I ended up doing a 6min jog on accident! I didn't hear myself (on my podcast) say it was time to walk so I just kept jogging  As I was jogging I started wondering, "Man, when is it time to walk? This sure if long." Then I hear myself "you have just completed the c25k Week 3..."
After: I feel good! I am glad that I stuck with the program and I can def. see a difference already in my endurance!
Oh yeah, during my 6 minute jog I started telling myself:
"I want this. I need this. I can do this." Over and over. It really helped me focus.

Completed Day 1 of Week 5.
Before: Energized and over caffeinated haha
During: Pretty great, the running felt a lot easier though my legs were a bit sore and my left knee seems to not be absorbing shock very well (not sure what that's all about). I also was worrying about Day 2 and especially Day 3 of this week and if I will be able to complete them.
After: I felt awesome for completing the day and walked for another thirty minutes on an incline with a few jog intervals until the boyfriend was done his circuits.
I can feel my running improving, excited to see it continue!0 -
Hi everyone!
As you know I'm behind a week due to vacation last week!
Completed Week 2/Day 1 - I was nervous about getting thru this day as I had been off for a week. During: felt great! Kept my pace throughout and was amazed at how well I felt during. After: was thrilled! Burned some good calories and also did some arm weights - trying to tone them up as well!
Goal for this week: complete week 2. Trying to up my speed on my treadmill - just by 1 and in intervals, so I'm not overdoing it. I really don't want to have to go backwards - so I'm trying to be smart about it. My overall goal for C25K is just to be able to run 3 miles comfortably!
Enjoying the program so far!0 -
No weight change this week, but i'm just going to continue to look ahead.
Today is W3D1 but I honestly don't think I can do it, and it's causing me to want to quit. The hub and I were supposed to go yesterday, but I tried every excuse to get out of it, and I did. I know it's just fear of failure that I'm feeling and the only way to know if I can do it or not is to go for it. I plan on starting slow and hope to hang on for the duration.0 -

I need a little some of what you had to get through W3D10 -
CoCoMa,
You got this. Like you said, you just need to take it slow. It's not a race. It's about becoming healthier and building up your endurance. Speed you can worry about later. But, I have no doubt in my mind that if you just take it at your own pace you will succeed! Best of luck!!No weight change this week, but i'm just going to continue to look ahead.

I hear ya girl, me too! Now I have to cram week 3 in a few days *sigh*0 -

Thank you my dear, for the words of encouragement!! It is much appreciated!!0 -
First off, CoCoMa... no problem. That is what this group is made for. Motivation and encouragement
Secondly, completed W3 D2 today.
Before: I felt unmotivated. Tired from the drain of work.
During: Not the best I've ever felt. I think I drank too much before because during the final 3 min run, I kept thinking if this doesn't end soon I am going to throw up all over this machine  I managed to bust it out. But, it wasn't my best.
After: Happy that I didn't give up even when I felt like I couldn't take another minute. Left hoping that my next run is better, so I can keep moving forward. Hopefully last run of W3 Thursday.
Goal for the week: Just to make it through this week still getting to the gym and keeping close to my nutrition goals. I have a lot on my plate with work, and this is about the time I let taking care of myself slide. Need to learn to push through it.0 -
Completed day 2 of week five!
Today's run was good, it went by really fast with there only being two runs. I am nervous for Fridays 20 minute run though!
I can't decide if I feel better/time goes by faster if I can see the clock/timer or not. What do you all do, do you hide the time or no when you're running?0 -
Completed w3d2...I felt tired and I really had to push myself.0
-
Hi everyone!
I completed Week 2/Day 2 yesterday.
Before - I was very anxious to get going and see if I would feel as good as Monday!
During - I felt very sluggish! Like I was running on empty? I made sure I had a snack around 3 pm (chobani greek yogurt) and then hit the treadmill around 4:45 pm. It's like I had no energy at all! On Tuesday I did Zumba and same thing - no energy! I'm starting to think I'm not eating enough?
After - happy I pushed thru. I actually upped my speed by 1 this time and stuck to it! So that's a small NSV for me! Just wish I could figure out this sluggish thing???
Good luck everyone!0 -
Post for during the Week: I'm re-doing week 4
Before I felt: Tired....the cat woke me at 6am and my mind was too busy thinking about back to school I could not go back to sleep.
During I felt: HOT! This heat and humidity is killer even at 630 am. But I also felt inspired to do this!
After I felt: Somewhat discouraged, week 4 of c25k is quite the challenge for me. The last 5 minute jog has been very difficult for me. But I did do a bit better than my last run.0 -
Completed Week 3 Day 2 last night (was going to post, but got busy).
Before: I totally forgot about C25K! My friend reminded me while we were talking.
During: I felt strong and I felt like I could keep going longer
After: I felt sweaty, hot, and accomplished.
I am glad that I am staying focused! I think this might be the first program that I actually finish for once!

***ATTENTION***
I am going on Vacation, leaving tomorrow. I will be gone for 1 week and I am not sure if I will have internet access since I will be staying in the woods ^_^ I was hoping that someone would be kind enough to take the responsibility of posting the Week 4- C25K Running Group thread. If no one can do it due to circumstances I can always just post it early tomorrow before I leave.
Please message me if you are willing to do this :^)

Was supposed to be doing Week 4 Day 1; I dropped it back to Week 2 since this was my first day back on C25K since I sprained my ankle.
Before: Tired, and worried that my ankle wouldn't let me jog at all.
During: Slow at first - I was surprised how much of my endurance was lost in just a week and a half! I was dragging that first lap. Once I got going though, I started feeling better, lighter.
After: I felt glad to be back on it, I really really missed it! No more injuries for me!0 -
