If you only have it once a week, and it keeps you from going crazy the rest of the week, what's the real harm? I have Fun Food Friday every week to keep my sanity.

McChicken Sandwich: 360 cals, 16 g of fat, 830 mg of sodium........... why waste all that on 1 item? How long does it take you to burn 360 cals? For me it's about 30-40 minutes on my elliptical. Why not have something different and feel better about it later? Plus those stats don't include medium fries so if you're wanting to get those too... add 380 cals on top of that and you're up to 740... enough said

    No?

No one should have to give you an excuse why YOU should or shouldn't do something.
    Self control.

Plus you don't know what the heck is going into your body. Consider all of the questionable additives to that chicken. That's enough to put me off my feed.

Have you ever tried to recreate your own McChicken sandwich?
It's better to try and replicate these things because you can see what you're putting into it. You can add a healthy twist & create your own recipe for it!

One reason why I don't eat McDonalds: It ALWAYS makes me sick because I have it SO rarely. My stomach is like *WTF* when it passes through.

    Nutrition facts don't overcome cravings.

Better yet, watch "Food Inc" and see how McDonald's has screwed us over (regarding the way food is grown, injected with hormones...etc). I will NEVER give that company a dime of my money ever again.

Also do some research and find out what their food is really made of...

Now as far as just cravings in general...chew some gum, brush your teeth (nothing tastes good after you have brushed), whiten your teeth (can't eat while doing that) :D

I know that now that i have started to cut out things that when I have them my tummy starts cramping and makes me want to throw up. Remember sometimes what we remember as tasty yummy goodness that is very very bad for us the reality is that our bodies don't want it but our minds remember the pleasure.

The consensus is that fast food for many here is "bad" and shouldn't be eaten period. My suggestion: it's not "bad" to have something you like on occasion. In fact research shows that people that eat what they want to eat within reason maintain steadier weight than those that cut out their favorites completely because eventually they will go back.
Do this. Go with a friend or SO. Split it with them. You save half the caloric value and get to fill the craving.

That movie is what gave me the desire to not eat meat any more. I am now Pescatarian (I don't eat farm raised) and I love the way I feel. I mean the chickens got me the most...all they do is lay there in their own crap and they can't move because they are pumped full of so many growth hormones that they can't move, they can barely breathe. I also couldn't handle the fact that chickens are slaughtered and then eaten about a month and half after they have hatched from an egg.

Also the fact that beef gets an ammonia bath....Yum! sounds delicious (gag!!!!)

This is why giving up craving foods have never worked for me in the past. Id say to helll with the "diet" Now, I let myself have my "craving foods" In fact, tonight is our weekly Taco Bell night. I eat what I want there. It hasn't affected my weight loss whatsoever.

I agree, if I don't get something I'm craving, the craving won't go away. However if I just have a little of it, it's not actually as good as I remember most of the time, so I'm perfectly fine not eating all of it.

I'm trying to lead a healthier life, so giving up things wholesale is unreasonable

For me it's not the gigantic amount of calories/fat/sodium that is in it...it's the fact that their food is BAD for you. The amount of hormones that is pumped into their meat...it's mind blowing.

When you are finished you will only feel like crap and wonder "why did I even eat that?" and you will be hungry again in an hour or so! DO NOT DO IT!

A nutrition professor did "twinkie" diet. Just at twinkies and some chips to break the monotany. Lost 27 lbs. And lowered cholesterol and blood lipid profile.
Goes to show that the body is amazing and that if you eat with reason, get in your essentials, exercise and get rest that you should be relatively healthy. Too many people get on this "healthy eating" kick and it can get down right annoying when they judge people by what they eat (believe me it's a form a prejudice).

All of you gave me the most amazing advice, after reading all of your comments I 've decided to skip the Mcdonalds, I also agree that I should be allowed a "cheat" but you know I think I can find something a bit healthier and less processed, that will definitely make me feel better afterwards....

switch your ticker from pounds lost, to your actual weight.
Why does everyone need to cheat. Either eat the sandwich and deal, or don't eat it.
You lost 32 pounds. why not eat fast food once a week?

There are hormones in standard meat at grocery stores. There's sodium in just about any food we eat. Your daily oxygen is contaminated with industrial smoke and waste.
It's edible. Occasional eating of foods you like WON'T kill you. Geez, if the chemical composition was so bad, then I should have died long ago since I've been eating McDonalds' consistently since 1970.

Actually I feel pretty good and look forward to eating it again next week.
  • I'm with ninerbuff. I don't do McDonalds but I can eat what I want (in moderation) with a little walking and still lose weight. You can eat, just don't be gluttonous and lazy about it. And if your body doesn't agree with it after all this time, then you probably won't be tempted to eat it again any time soon :))

Try this theory for about a week and then you'll understand what we're talking about.

This^. Everyone has things that they love to eat, just don't frikkin eat them in large amounts and on a daily basis. For awhile I was on a Taco Bell phase (once a week). A week ago, I stopped craving it. Lol, now it's ColdStone.

I refuse to eat Mcdonalds. When my kids ask for it I just say "Mcdonalds puts gasoline and soap in their food"
