I feel that this site is tailored for women. Does myfitnesspal give different targets for each gender? How much does gender factor into weight loss?

Huh?? Why do you feel this site is tailored for women?4

Yes. . .it works. . I know plenty of extremely fit and unfit men that are on this site. . . I am sure if you seek them out you will receive a lot of great advice.0
-
I think it works great0

I think someone just wants all the men to come out of the woodwork. hahaha.. .just kiddng.0

Right? lol0 -
There are tons of men on this site... all in progress.
I believe this site is gender neutral.
Getting fit and eating healthy is also gender neutral.0 -
I've dropped nearly 35 lbs.... NOPE, Doesn't work for men! Try another site!0
-
Yeah, it works.1 -
It's all about the calorie count. The proof is in the results, I'm down 31lbs heading toward 35. Of course, you have to want to track everything that goes in your mouth and you have to do it it honestly. Ift's a great tool for accountability.0

I am a guy and use it to keep track of sodium.0

My husband uses this and it was recommended to him by a long time male friend; he lost 15 lbs. The biggest benefit he found was the eye opener it was when logging food. Lots more calories than he expected, so it helped him make different food choices and think before chowing down on something. Also, how much both of us were drinking ... probably a glass, sometimes two, of wine every night. That has stopped ... well, put the brakes on the frequency :-)0

dude... those are some amazing legs!!!0 -
I think its the little dancer logo that got him...0

Maybe it seems that way because there are a lot of women who want to lose weight...and we like to talk!0
-
The reason why I got that feeling is that when originally signing up, all over the home page was quotes from women. There were no input from men there. The icon for the website is a woman too. Either that or a highly flexible, thin man. I'm glad to hear that there are a lot of men here and have found that this tool works for them.0

Yeah, I've seen just as many men as I've seen women on this site. Some of us women may get our husbands/boyfriends interested in it initially, but they end up sticking around for the long-run because this site isn't gender specific and is very helpful to both sexes. I'm not even much of a calorie counter, myself (mostly counting carbs), but I've found some of the other tools on this site to be a godsend.. there really is something here for everyone. Plus, everyone has been so helpful and supportive.0

Yes.. it can work for men too. What is it about this site that screams 'women' only?0

It's working for me, my dad, and 3 or 4 guys at work.0

The website is not pink!0

Its worked for me since Jan 2011. :-) See the ticker below:0

DANG! Why didn't I think of this?! LOL0 -

I'm guessing that's a lot of it. Some say women have twice as many words in a day as men do. [I'm sure that's a generelization.] But could account for him feeling he is in the minority here.
We all belong!0 -
I am a 39 year old male and I have lost 26 lbs. I love this site! Actually, I love that I can keep track of what I eat via my Blackberry and iPod Touch. I log in every day and track what I eat. I think a lot of us men on here just use the site and do not participate on the message boards. As you can see, I have posted a few times... Seems it is primarily women that talk on the message boards, but this is by no means a female site. Use the site and keep track of what you eat... you will see a difference!0

Yeah, it works.
'Nuff said haha0 -

Nope. The site's demographic is a lot more female than male but I do agree it works for both. It's working for me!0 -
Down 91 pounds! It works if you use it right and are honest with yourself! Like any change of life move you have to stick with it and really want to make a difference! Keep your mind focused and stay faithful to yourself and the weight will come off!0

Woman tend to be more willing to go for the whole supportive environment thing that the boards are. There are probably a lot more men who just use the mobile app and don't post on the msg board.1

What I'd like to know is how myfitnesspal calculated that I will naturally lose 2100 calories in a day. I read somewhere that men burn 300 more calories a day than women do. So I would think that gender does have some sort of factor when deciding when to stop eating.0 -
Sorry double post. Damn phone0
