Okay so I've put down ceramic tile more than once. I went on vacation so I decided to pay someone to do it for me. The bathroom is 20-25 sq feet. He pulled out old tile (vinyl stuff), put down a new subfloor, and then layed down the ceramic tile. Now it's not yet grouted and he says he put in 24 hrs on my floor? Am I nuts or is that A LONG time for such a small area. I"m not perfect but I've put down rooms more than twicee the size in half the time!

Anyone?

Not a contractor, but I have done tile(like you) and I am an engineer in the construction business.
Three days is high, but not crazy.
My question is why did he remove the vinyl tile? I'll bet half the time is in that.
If he put down a new subfloor he didn't have to remove the vinyl tile.

I'm not a contractor but an Architect.
    Did he remove the baseboards?
Did he have to stabilize the floor?
After he removed the vinyl flooring did he make sure the floor was clean, dust free?
Also, did he have to lay out the pattern first? Does the ceramic tile have a pattern to it or just plain color?
He also needs to make sure to leave room for spacing of the grout.
Also, did he install thin set before laying the tile?
The floor must sit overnight before grouting, so for a 20 - 25 sq.ft. should take a day at max apart from having him come back and seal the grout

Edit: cutting of the tile takes a while sometimes depending of the design of the room/ceramic tile (patterns)

So. . . okay. He pulled tile up because it was pealing. . .I was not going to pull it up, but whatever. The floor had NO problems, even he said that. . . The tile is not even grouted yet so sealing time is out too. it's a solid color, the floor board was already removed and the room is square, for th most part he told me he cut ten tiles to keep it looking perfect. It looks nice, but. . I'll talk to him and ask him to break it down for me. i'm not paying for dry time and I'm bored so I'll watch ur Netflix time either. . thanks guys
