Cher if u don't mind can u keep posting ur meals with the # of calories at the bottom...as u did earlier. .. i'd really appreciate it! I am again 100 calories over for the day. That would help me a lot!
Speaking of chocolate my kids opened one of the ghirardelli milk caramel chocolate bags and i had 2 squares...it was 180 calories!!! i was more shocked to later find out that the goldfish crackers wholegrain ones only have 30 less calories! Scary! I need better snacks!
So any help is always appreciated! i shall be looking at your meals more seriously!
Thanks again!0 -

Sure, as long as I know that someone is interested, I'll keep posting! :flowerforyou: Maybe I should add that I do not eat "snacks," but five or six separate meals throughout the day. That helps to change my mindset from "crackers" and "snacky foods" to seeking out nutritious foods every time I eat.
Meal #4:
1 tangerine
1 whole wheat tortilla
1 Tbs almond-peanut butter
1 c skim milk
1 Tbs cocoa powder
Stevia
Calories: 350
If it's any consolation, I have less than 200 calories left for the rest of the day, including meal #5 (dinner -- not sure what I'm having yet) and I'll be going over, too. I didn't do any cardio today, so my available calories were on the lower end. My workout for today was strength training of legs and abs. I plan on doing a bunch of cardio in the morning, maybe even with another short run because I feel so great (no soreness!) after yesterday's run. Success and hope!0 -
Thank you to everyone contributing to this thread. I have been struggling with sugar addiction and sometimes find it difficult to explain to others why I should not eat bread and other processed foods. Healthy living is a low priority where I live. I hadn't heard of clean eating and this thread has some nice explanations throughout. They are very simple and easy to understand.
I have an interest in the meal posting because they give me ideas on how I could better structure my food choices.

Hi, mrwatson, you have come to the right place! I began following the Eat Clean Diet a little over a month ago for exactly the same reason -- to once and for all cut the sugar and processed foods out of my diet, and I knew this diet did just that. I have struggled with food addictions my whole life (I'll be 40 in 18 days ). I've always wondered (since I was about 11) why I couldn't stop thinking about food, why I ate beyond the point of being full, and why I was drawn to the worst foods, and I felt like I had no control or will power. Now I know it wasn't me -- it was the addictive foods that I was eating. Since I began eating healthier, the cravings are gone, I have tons more energy, and will power is a non-issue because I just don't want junk food anymore!
Explaining to others can still be a challenge, but we don't have to be alone in that challenge. Welcome!0 -
Meal #5:
1/2 baked sweet potato
Sprinkle of light cheddar
3 oz. tuna
Green salad
Lemon and vinegar dressing
Calories: 220
I had a late dinner, so I won't be eating anything else today. I actually ended up being pretty close with my calories.0 -
Thank you.
I went to a Walmart Neighborhood Market this evening and found the recommended peanut butter. I also picked up some whole brown rice cereal (that's the only ingredient) to try. Breakfast has become a bit routine for me and it is time to try something new.
Thank you for all the ideas and suggestions.0 -
NM's not at our Super Walmart, or at Meijer! I also tried our organic store, they didn't stock it either. They could probably special order it, but I can only imagine how much that would cost me.
I found the Joseph's pitas at Walmart - and I found "sucralose" on the ingredients list. That's the generic term for Splenda.
I never noticed that they have sucralose in them!! Now I'll have to check! I do use splenda in smaller quantities, but I do avoid aspartame, it's a migraine trigger for me!
Jess
Jess, I avoid Splenda for the same reasons - although I've never been migraines, I do get headaches. Aspartame doesn't seem to affect me that way, but I try to avoid artificial sweeteners (well, all sweeteners in general!).0
