Are any of you in long distance relationships?

It'd be nice to have someone who could relate to the stress of being in an ldr. Stavros and I have been together for over two years and we're engaged. We see each other every three months. He lives in FL; I live in NJ. Feel free to add me. I love hearing stories about ldr's that actually work like Stav and I's.

Lol.. I guess you could say that I am. I'm in an international one. He has been overseas for 6 years and is currently in Pakistan.

Awe, that must be difficult! Are you two married?

I was in a long distance relationship for the first year of my current relationship. Ours wasn't as long distance as yours is - we lived across the state from one another (about 1.5 hours away from one another). For that first year, we saw each other almost everyday. Put over 22,000 miles on my car. It was very tough, but we managed to make it work. He quit his job, moved out of his home and left his family and friends to move in with me last September.

I go to school in Lancaster and my boyfriend lives in Philadelphia. I live in Philadelphia when I'm out of school, but even then, we are about 30 - 45 minutes away (by car). I really love him and we hope to get married one day!

I don't consider that long-distance at all, but I'm happy for you! <3

You can add me if you would like. My boyfriend and I have been together for 2.5 years. He just went back for his second year in college over in Hawaii and I'm in Oregon. I went to school with him last year but the university dropped my major so I had to transfer. I'll see him again in about 4 months.

@AmerTunsi: You are one strong girl, six years! It's good to hear that two people can still be together after that long :)

My relationship started out as long distance....me living in WA and him in CA. We did that for a couple years while we were in High School. Then, when I graduated, I moved to CA to be with him. We have been together 11 years come October 16th :o) By LDR, I mean that we met online and didn't actually meet in person until I went down to Cali and decided to move there! Crazy I know! But, we now have two sons (just turned 3 and about to turn 8) and I wouldn't change it for anything :o)

Yes, I am. We got VERY lucky that he found a job easily since the job market in my area isn't very good. :) The first few months were an adjustment, but things are going well now.

Nope not married yet. He has been going from one war to another. He went to Iraq twice, Kuwait, and now Pakistan. But, hopefully very soon if everything works out! :) Patience is key.

Wow! <3 The time difference must be difficult. That's something Stav and I don't have to deal with, which I'm really happy about. I'll definitely add you though. :)
  • I am in one but we are lucky. We are only two hours apart. But it's still hard because gas is expensive and he is looking for work and I don't have a car right now and am sharing with my mom. So we still can't just hop in the car and see each other whenever :( .

We are 2 hours away and I can't leave Lancaster at any moment. I consider it long distance if we can't see each other every other day due to the separation. And eventually, he will be working in Dallas, TX while I'll still be in Lancaster. Now THAT will be long distance.

That sounds very similar to Stavros and I. We met on myspace and fell in love, literally instantly! :) Happy for ya.

I'm from NY. My Wife is from AL. We just got married on June 30th of this year, after a four year LDR.

Well, I fell in love with him after one conversation! It's been a tough route for the two of us but we're finally kind of both getting in better places in our lives. If all works out, by the time next year we shall be together. But, I try not to wish too much for things like that because something always seems to happen! lol

The OP is not a member anymore. Well, at least not under that name.
  • I got into a nursing school 4 hours away from where my husband and I live (i start in Feb). I cant get into a nursing program here (way more competitive) so I have to go to this one if I want to be a nurse =( Its by my husbands parents house so I will be living in the studio above their garage. I will be gone for 11 months straight to get my LVN, then come home for like a year and take a break, then go back for 9 months to get my RN.

My hubby is too busy with work almost 7 days a week to drive down to visit me, so it will be up to me to drive home on weekends if Im not slammed with homework!!! I know only 4 hours away...still sad though about being away from my hubby!!! =(
