I met my SO when I was living in Rochester, NY and he was in Montreal. Then I moved to Plattsburgh, NY for college (only an hour away from Montreal), but then he got his Master's and moved to London, Ontario for his Ph.D. Then I moved to Minnesota for my Masters, then I moved to Portland, OR. After 12 years of a LDR we got married, and 9 months later he got his visa to move to the States so we could actually live together. He's been living here with me for over a year and a half now.

My husband and I dated long distance for almost 2 years before we got married. I lived in NC and he lived here in California. I HATED the stress of long distance and the 3 hour time difference!! We pushed through and made it work and now we've been married for nearly 4 years!
  • My Grandma had a serious car crash back in february, she and 4 of my family members very nearly lost their lifes in southwales, i put my job on hold as a care home assistant in blackpool (250 miles away) whilest she was in hospital and i stayed in her house...

So i was chuffed when i got an interview in the tele sales place on the corner of her street, and as i walked down the stairs from my interview, i passed a very nervous looking, but very cute young man.

Anyway i got the position, and also got the interviewee, as we bumped into each other at a later date. and i then moved back to blackpool as my nan was recovering, however we talked. and talked. and talked for hours on end, every night.

then around a month later we made the relationship official, and started the long distance rollercoaster, taking it in turn to visit each other no more than every two weeks, i would get the train and do about 7hrs of travelling to get to him.. and he would drive to sunny blackpool to get to me.

Then one afternoon at the end of august, i was making my routine trip of going home after an amazing weekend together, when he mentions me not going home. singing love songs, and teasing me that 'what if i didnt go home?' afterall his parent loved me.. i could stay with them but that was just a dream surely!

So waiting on the otherside of the track, for the dreaded train to arrive i sat there tears in my eyes after the usual heart breaking goodbyes. The train pulls up, The train pulls off. but one more seat is empty on the dreaded bridgend to blackpool- Mine.

I tell my boyfriend to wait there, and he is adamant im winding him up, and as soon as we see each other we both break down crying. yes 4months of long distance is not at all long to move together, because the past 3months of living together has been the most amazing ever  yes we argue alot, and bicker, but then we laugh and love just as much!

I had to quit my job as a home care assistant which i did not enjoy at all, and now work for a huge pet store chain on a lot better money, and i love it... so bite the bullet, take that risk if you can and follow your heart because i had to follow mine all the way back to south wales and good luck
  • I am too. Me and my boyfriend live 4 hours apart which is hard for me because I met him when I was living in Baltimore and we lived close to each other. I had a bunch of stuff going on in my life so he encouraged me to move back to PA with my mom and now I'm really resentful towards him about it because I'm really unhappy here. I don't know whats going to happen with us in the future we've been together a year. I go back to school next month so we wont be able to see each other as much anymore and I think its going to kill the relationship.
