What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?!

I don't know 'bout y'all, but I fully intend to eat as much as I normally would on Thanksgiving. How about everyone else?

Also, what does everyone usually have on Thanksgiving? We make the traditional turkey of course, and sweet potato casserole with pecans and marshmallows, "creamed corn", which is really just corn mixed with garden cream cheese, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, stuffing and dressing, home made pan gravy, cranberry sauce, and my mom's Hawaiian spinach dip :) Everyone else?

I haven't had a Thanksgiving with my family in a long time :-(

But the traditional thing was my dad's cajun stuffing :-D Yummy.

I try to control portion sizes on Thanksgiving... but I def. won't be nitpicking and calorie counting.

    Not certain

It will be at my boyfreinds parents house, so I'll probably be polite and try some of everything.

However they know I'm very mindful of my figure and he has made it clear to them I am a "gym nazi" so... I'm sure they'll be expecting it.

The one change... my goodness I LOVE turkey skin(so gross so so so gross) and I probalby won't request it.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, broccoli, gravy, sweet potatoes, pickles and olives, breaaaaaad, and cranberry sauce from a can. And we usually have some pumpkin bread for breakfast.
Thanksgiving at my house would be pretty healthy if it wasn't for all the homemade bread. Bread is totally my weakness.
And all of this happens with christmas music in the background because thanksgiving has always been the start of the christmas season in my house for some reason.

I'm going to eat! Probably not go back for seconds and will use portion control since I'm getting used to the amounts I eat, but I intend on having some good home-cooking, that's for sure.

I don't want to eat as much as I normally would for Thanksgiving because I just don't want to eat like that anymore! I'm tired of being someone who has to have a full plate and seconds of everything. My Thanksgiving plans are to go to my grandma's get a reasonable helping of my favorite foods, eat slowly, and stop eating when I'm satisfied. Then I'm going to go outside and run around the yard playing hide-and-seek with my niece and nephews and work some of it off. All the adults are usually too full after the meal to get up and do anything, so this will make a nice change. :)
  • I am ready for Thanksgiving. I love it. I am having turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, turnip greens, mac and cheese and cake. I am going to eat like I normally do. Wow im ready now.

If i get to my parents' place, there will be turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, corn or green beans or peas, salad, buns, gravy, stuffing, probably pickles, maybe a jellied salad, a bit of wine, and pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

Definitely won't eat as much as i have in the past, but will take a bite of everything, and go for a run before dinner (so I can avoid the usual turkey coma).

If I'm here with bf or at friends, will either have turkey or a roast chicken, with some mashed potatoes, gravy, maybe corn. And pumpkin pie. If it's me on my own, maybe a turkey burger or chicken sandwich.

Party with my family! Our Thanksgiving is usually 40 people strong each year and we do football and play games.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, roasted sweet potatoes, green beans and of course pie. I'm also going to be making a special treat for my dogs too. lol

I will be relaxing, but will be journaling everything I eat to keep myself in line. My plan is to get up uber early to work out and then to begin the cooking madness.

Christmas is my downfall because I usually make a TON of cookies, candy & caramel corn for the kids to take into their teachers. AND we're expecting my son's braces to come off - I've already promised him I'd make him homemade caramel corn once his braces are off. (yikes!)

I could eat my weight in caramel corn....Mmmmm.....lol

omg, this post is making my mouth water. Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday.. mainly because of the menu at my family's shindig. luckily, we have a LOT of veggies. they also have ham & turkey, but i've never been too much of a fan of those things.

oh, and i MUST save room for awesome dessert. the past few years, i've been making healthier things to bring so i know i'll be satisfied.

This may not be the response you want, but thinking about a holiday and what you will eat is in the future. In the big picture, we have no future, we have NOW...If you live for the moment, and don't over exert yourself for what you do not know will happen, your goals will be met with ease.

Regardless....I am working, and I do feel you should enjoy a nice meal, and hit black Friday...your bound to burn a little off!

My husband's family is kind of annoying in that they insist on getting together every Thanksgiving and every Christmas. Whatever happened to alternating? Because they know not everyone can get together on the actual holiday, they pick a day around that holiday to get together. I come from a small family, where the actual holiday was valued. He has a big family. It's been years of this, and I'm just not gonna do it anymore. I told my husband just a couple weeks ago that I'm skipping Thanksgiving with his family this year. I'm just sick of doing two Thanksgivings...the actual one and his family's one. He immediately said that was a great idea.

We host all our friends. We make 2 complete dinners - one traditional and one vegan.

I don't plan on logging that day but I am so busy cooking for 20 people that I don't usually eat much of it.

It's ok - I'd rather see my family and friends with full bellies than me.

Oh and I forgot getting up early to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Also, I like living in the future. This has nothing to do with my weight loss goals, this is purely for fun, thanks :)

For the past several years in a row we've been hosting a big thanksgiving get together. It's a lot of fun. I've done the deep-fried turkey thing 3 years in a row, and it comes out amazing. This year I'm just going to roast it in the oven (after brining it of course). It's pretty much just as good, and I don't end up with 2-3 gallons of oil to get rid of.

Thanksgiving has been an interesting time of year for me.... 2 thanksgivings ago, I fell off the wagon and stopped working out and eating as well. Then around last Thanksgiving, I got back on the wagon, and have achieved the best fitness of my life so far. I wonder what changes this Thanksgiving will bring.

I cook, it's fancy. I start thinking about my menu in September. So, that's all I have for now.

And I like to take in strays. Sharing is the best part of the holiday.
