Will Chewing Gum kill me?

I'm trying to figure out tricks to not feel so hungry during the day.

Caffeine = works but makes me jittery and I can't have it in the afternoon. most of the weight loss is water.
Food = too much is counter productive and is what got me here in the first place.
Smoking = will kill me...but my wife will kill me first
Chewing gum = actually helps to curb my appetite longer but I'm not sure what the long term problems will be.

So I've been chewing Trident gum with Xylitol (which "cleans and protects teeth") at about a pack every two days. It also contains Phenylalanine (is that sacharin?).

Is this stuff gonna kill me?

It depends on how much you are snorting.

    LoL.

This might be gross, but I've found that chewing that much gum can REALLY mess with my digestion/gastrointestinal health. I was going through at least a pack a day of Trident White Pina Colada for a while, especially while at my desk at work. I was feeling bloated and gassy for a long time, and after ruling out yogurt and anything else I usually eat for lunch during the week, I stopped with the gum. It was hard, being a former smoker, but now I have way fewer problems. Just something to consider...

As long as you can chew gum and walk/drive at the same time, you should survive.

haha - that's what I said out loud at my desk when I read the post. Although I've been chewing Thrive nicotine replacement gum for like 3 years.... THAT probably WILL kill me. lol.

    1) i found this thread hilarious to begin with.
    2) i actually have a relevant story to relay.
    3) the story: i few years ago i was highly in love with the gum, Big Red. I would "chain chew" for hours. 17-pack? Done in an hour or so. Calories and jaw problems aside, the "hot" in the gum basically burned my tounge so bad after days of this that parts of my tounge started sloughing off. Not scary or anything, kinda like the skin of a blister peeling off? So, if you're gonna chain-gum, I'd suggest one that's not "hot"

    :) happy chewing

You will probably die. Yep. That is, if you are chewing 83 packs of gum all at once... I assume you would probably suffocate? So it's definitely possible!

Short answer, no. Xylitol is a sugar substitute that is useful for fighting the bacteria that cause cavities. As for the phenylalanine unless you are a Phenylketonuric or sensitive to aspartame, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Maybe drop it down to a pack a day if you are that concerned or switch to celery sticks...

That didn't answer the question. The question is are you dead yet? If so, how long did it take to kill you? Pay attention.
