Anybody interested??? Start tomorrow, provide me with your starting measurements and finish on Thanksgiving day with your final measurements. This would be more of a support group as well with a little bit of a challenge thrown in to make things interesting. I will do a group of 10 people (11 including me). If you are interested let me know, I will take the first 10 people :flowerforyou:

I guess I should let everyone know that you don't have to be Canadian to be part of the challenge  I am just using our Thanksgiving as it provides just the perfect amount for a small challenge. So everyone feel free to join

Are we aiming for a total-inches-lost goal? Or go for the most inches lost individually? And... which measurements are we to include? :flowerforyou:

Well it looks like it is just the 5 of us :flowerforyou:

If you can post your measurements tomorrow, for your bicep, breast, tummy (smallest part) and thigh I will keep track.

We can also use this as a daily motivational thread and keep each other motivated, I am not very good with these things so please bare with me.

My name is Kendra, I am a single mom of 3 as I like to call myself, I am actually common law, have been for 11 years he is just never home with the work that he does. I have 3 animal children that I love dearly. I am currently working out at home and so far it is working out fairly good for me.

Tell me a little bit about yourselves?

I think we should go for total inches lost, see what a determined group of 5 can do in a month and a half. How does that sound?

Tomorrow morning I will be doing my last day of the C25K challenge, so looking forward to finishing a program that I started so long ago. Anybody else doing any programs that they love?

Welcome Carrie, I have to say you do not look old enough to have a 2 and a 3 year old =)
  • Hey Kendra, would love to join especially since I seem to be losing inches but nothing on the scale so this will be very motivating I hope! I will send you my measurements tonight x

    Good morning :)

I am a college student in Peterborough Ontario, studying Health Information Management (and can't wait for classes to start next week!). No kids for me yet... I've been involved in a long distance relationship for just over 2 years now, and we're hoping to finally live together by the end of 2011!

I started the 30DS in August, but due to traveling I only completed level 1. So... since today is September 1st... I'm going to start it again :) GOOD BYYYYYE INCHES!! :drinker:

Here are my measurements for September 1:
    Biceps: 14" L / 14" R
    Upper Waist: 44"
    Thighs: 26" L / 25.5" R

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Welcome Aeliyah!!! Some days I wish I was back in College, miss those days terribly. Enjoy your time you have there  Good luck with moving in with the bf, hope things work out wonderfully for you - long distance can be so hard!! And your 30DS will be an awesome program for you, your inches will just melt off of you. Thanx for your starting measurements :flowerforyou:

Hey Joni - You are more than welcome to join us, will be awesome to have you on board here as well.

Well it is OFFICIAL, I have finally completed C25K this morning. Had to deal with some rain, gumbo, Paden misbehaving - considered going home and going back to bed but wouldn't let myself and finished instead. It feels so good to have finished something especially running, something that I never thought I would ever complete. It is a good day for me today, even though my running conditions weren't the best.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Congrats on finishing your C25K!! I started that program back in May, but after only 2 weeks I had to stop because of my previous back injuries. Once I get my weight down (...considerably down...) I'm hoping to do it again.

    Hi everyone,

I am 25, live in Calgary and have been married for just over 2 years. ….in that time I have gained 20 lbs, on top of the weight I already had to loose!

I work as an admin assistant, so I am sitting around a lot. I try to get out and be active in the evenings, and am currently training to run a 5km in December.

I just started using MFP one week ago, and have already lost about 2.5 lbs. Tracking my calories is really working for me thus far….I don’t think I had any idea how much I was consuming each day.

Anyways, I am looking forward to this challenge!
  • Hello,

My name is Wendy, I am 30 years old. I have a job where I sit at my desk for about 8 hours(depends on the day). I do try to get away and go for walks. I live in Edmonton and have currently been using The Biggest Loser on the Xbox Connect for excersise. I have only now started getting serious about losing this weight. So thank you for the support.
  • Hey Kendra,

Here are my measurements (in cm):

    Waist 79.5
    Thighs 56.5
    Arms 32
    Hips 102

Little introduction for everyone else: my name is Joni, I'm 25 and live in London (UK). I work as assistant manager for a financial software company, and similar to Wendy I sit at a desk for 8 hours. I try to get in some kettlebell circuits before work and go to boxercise or circuit classes at the gym at lunchtime. I also run at the weekends and am currently training to complete a 10K in less than an hour (have to speed up my time by 7 minutes).

I've been on MFP for a year now I think but have been yo-yo'ing and losing motivation a lot in the past year. I've recently had my heart broken and this time I am serious about losing the weight because it's time to think about ME. The weightloss journey has really helped me in the past few weeks in finding confidence again and most of all feeling attractive again. For some reason I haven't been losing on the scale at all although I'm definitely already one dress size down, hence this challenge is perfect as it will force me to monitor inches instead of pounds.

Thanks for your wonderful support and feel free to add me!

    Joni :flowerforyou:

Thanx it is a wonderful program, I first started and tried doing it on a treadmill then decided that just wasn't my cup of tea. And as soon as the weather turned nice here I was outside and doing it and I loved it - it was just a matter of finding what worked for me. Now I look forward to going for a run in the morning. When you get to where you need to be I know you will love the program as well once you find what works best for you.

Welcome - you live very close to me I live in Coaldale - you are almost in my backyard. What are doing to train for your 5K? And what 5K are you doing? I am actually looking forward to running in the colder temps, I think I will prefer that way more than the +30's. Joining MFP and tracking what you eat is defeinitely a real eye opener isn't it? You think you are eating healthy and really not than much and then you get a huge wake up call. Welcome to MFP, if you have any questions feel free to ask

Hey Wendy - Welcome to the challenge!!! If you can get me your measurements I can add you to the list. I know how you feel sitting at a desk for 8 hours every day - it sucks!!! I do the same thing and am happy to get out of here at the end of the day. If you have any questions at all feel free to ask us and we can answer them the best we can.

Well guys it is Friday, long weekend and I can't wait to get out of here so I can sleep in tomorrow morning

It is a rainy, gloomy day here once again and I again had to wear shoes and socks this morning - I am so not ready to give up my flip flops yet  This morning I decided to get some extra sleep and pushed off my morning workout, I have been doing either a run or a bike ride every day for the last 3 weeks and it just felt like my feet, ankles and legs needed a day. But I will be back at it tomorrow morning.

Plans for me this weekend are as little as possible on what is probably going to be the last really nice weekend around here. Discussing going to the lake for an afternoon but no real desicion on that yet so we will see.

What are everyone else's plans for the long weekend?

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday :flowerforyou:
  • Sorry for the delay. I have done my measurments before I seen this post and have them at a friends house. I will get them this weekend.

    Hey everyone :)

I restarted my 30DS yesterday, and man, did it kick my *kitten*! It was great!

My plans for the long weekend are pretty low key... My mom is coming to visit and hang out on Saturday (my mom is pretty cool lol). We'll probably go shopping, get the last few things I need for college, and have lunch at Subway (tradition). Other than that - it's one more work shift before school starts, and SLEEP. Oh, and some hardcore gaming! And - more 30DS. Hmmm... so much for low key I guess! haha!

I'll be lighting a candle Sunday evening for my best friend... I lost him to a car accident 5 years ago Sunday. Feel free to light a candle yourselves for anyone in your life that you may have lost - there is healing and guidance in the burning of a single candle.

I hope everyone has a safe weekend!

yeah I noticed that you live in AB too! I am going to do the Santa Shuffle (I think there is one in Lethbridge too??). To train I am getting out a few times a week doing anywhere between 3km and 6.5km. Just a few months ago I could barely make it 1km, so that is already a huge accomplishment for me!!

I am trying to eat about 1200 cal/day right now, but if I go slightly over I am okay with that. I figure that I was consuming somewhere between 2000 and 2400 before...which is unbelievable!

Have a great long weekend! Can't wait to see everyone's inches come off!

I know we have a Claus Cause in November but I haven't heard of the Santa Shuffle? Who is that through, the Running Room? When is the Santa Shuffle? I may to look into that one. I know exactly how you feel when i started the C25K program and I could barely make it 1 min I thought I was crazy for even thinking that I could do this and now I can actually run 5K and I don't know why it was such an issue before. It is a wonderful feeling for sure.

Sounds like you have a solid plan in place and that always helps to make things so much easier.
