"Do I eat my exercise calories?"

My opinion is to NOT eat the exercise calories if you can help it. Your daily calorie level should be where if you didn't exercise, you would still slowly lose weight. The exercise calories are a bonus to the weight loss effort. Since you have to burn 3500 extra calories to lose one (that's right 1!) pound, I do my best to not consume by exercise calories. However, not always good at that and will sometimes eat some of them; but always aim to have calories left over if possible.
lmao, ^^this. I love you.0 -

this might be why i wasn't losing weight over the summer. I was doing intense work outs, burning 500 calories a day and I didn't eat them back.0

Disagree. You should be *netting* at least 1200 or you're going to p*ss off your body and defeat the purpose. If you eat 1200 calories and burn 1000, you're netting 200. Bad news bears, my friend.
Bottom line to all Exercise Calorie Non-Consumers: Do what you want, but don't come crying when you work your *kitten* off at the gym and don't drop a pound or inch in 3 months.0 -
NO.....THEY ARE EXTRA CALORIES BURNED TO GET OFF WEIGHT. JUST EAT YOUR NORMAL CALORIES AND ANYTHING EXTRA SHOULD BE WEIGHT LOST...0

& I think after like 69 days you can stop eating your exercise cals back. But just to be safe, make it 42.0 -

I talked to my doctor before I started MFP and I also work in a doctors office and have talked about this with them... they all agree that as long as you are burning at least 500 more calories than consumed, you should loose weight. It may not go super fast but you will loose. I don't always eat my calories back, if I am not hungry it is senseless, but I for the most part do eat some back. Usually I try to leave at least 1/2.0

I love how I said LOOSE.....twice! HAHAHA :laugh:0

Am I a bad person because I immediately dismiss arguments from people that don't use the proper contraction of "you are"?0 -

I do it as well. I just kind of think, "You don't use proper grammar. Your argument is invalid."0 -

Not at all! You're also excused from any argument where the other person uses 'loose' instead of 'lose'.0 -
I'm pretty sure the initial sarcastic intent of this post was lost over the internetz.0

On some people, yes, but luckily most got it, and appreciated it0 -
no use them for arts and crafts0

But...what if I work out like, a lot, and I burn a lot of calories?!
 when you work out like, a lot, you are required to drink your burnt calories. Also, the drink must include vodka or rum and fresh fruit.
Good thing I'm safe then! That's the diet plan I follow!
(I love how most people are answering this as if she was really asking the question.)0 -
These posts, like this one, just confuse me even more on the whole subject. :sad:0
