We've all been there: You're innocently watching a movie, and suddenly your heart contracts painfully. Your eyes fill with tears. Your lower lip begins to tremble as you fight in vain to stop the tears that are already coursing down your cheeks.

So, what did it? What movie or movies broke your heart? Or even made you cry in a good way?

Here's mine:

The House of Sand and Fog
Without a Trace
Marley & Me
Seven Pounds
August Rush

Titanic...when the Irish mother is trying to soothe her children, and the elderly couple clinging to each other in bed, waiting for the end. Makes me sob every time, even when I know it's coming.

The Richard Gere film "Hachi" and the Tom Hanks file "The Green Mile" oh and "Forrest Gump" especially at the end when he talks to Jenny at the grave about how proud he is of his son. I blub every time without fail.

    1. E.T.- when you thought he was going to die (OK I was 6 at the time)
    2. Steel Magnolias
    3. The Remains of the Day (well, I didn't cry, but I got really mad at the writers for making the single most depressing movie I've ever seen)

I don't watch animal movies, cause you know they're going to die, so I'm sure Marley & Me, Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows (read it), 8 Below and whatever others where the dog dies would be on top of my list.

    p.s.
Oh ya, Forrest Gump. The whole end is sad, but what gets me the most is "I may not be a smart man, but I know what love is" because you know so many real people with mental handicap go thru that.

I watched Marley and Me when I was about 8 months pregnant. BIG mistake. Cries for a long time. But the movie Letters to God had me in tears all night and I almost woke my daughter up giving her kisses while she slept in her crib (she was younger when we watched this) my husband even cried at those as well!
