Shampoo.

One year ago, I would have sworn my hair couldn't do without conditioner. Well, I stopped using it a few months ago and honestly? Can't tell the difference! I'm also working on the less shampooing thing but it's hard to go through the first few days of greasy hair when you need to be social...
Have you tried dry shampoo?? I use Psssssst brand, but I know Tresemme or whatever makes one too .. it's like a babyfine mist of talc or maybe cornstarch ... anyway, you spray it on your greasy roots, work it in, and brush through. BAM! No more greasy hair. I actually use it about twice a week between shampoos. It's not actaully 'shampooing' your hair .. it doesn't strip the oils or take them away, it just helps absorb them a bit so it doesn't look yuky. Oh, and it adds body like crazy. I love that too.
I have tried three different brands and "Pssssst" is the best for my fine hair. I buy it at Ulta. Tresemme made my hair feel ... weird .. but I know people that love it best. It's available at Target and the likes.
So, this whole dry shampoo stuff works? I'm so hesitant in using new products, but I am pretty interesting in this stuff.0 -
* this was the first time I got to use the phrase "my wife" on MFP. That was fun!

I love John Freida products! I'm currently using the Brilliant Brunette shampoo and conditioner. Oh, and I use Artec color depositing shampoo to keep my red hair, well red. I wish they would bring back the John Freida Reds collection though. I loved the way it smelled. My hair is just as soft and shiny with the Brunette one, but I miss the smell of the Red shampoo.
I haven't tried the red hair shampoo, but the brunette one smells lovely and makes my hair so soft. No difficulties rinsing it out either, I have thick hair and done shampoos take a lot of rinsing to get all the bubbles out.
I think the brunette one smells nice too. The red one has a perfumy scent that reminds me of Calvin Klein's Eternity. After I replied to this post, I decided to check online to see if anyone still had some in stock (how I keep my supply of the sadly discontinued Artec shampoos) and of course I can buy it on Amazon. Duh! Amazon is taking over the world. :bigsmile:0 -

Aww...Tas...I'm happy that you finally got to do that!
I use Nature's Gate as they are cruelty free, organic, and do not use sulfites/sulfates or alcohols which can be drying.
*edit- I only wash my hair every 2-3 days. I'll use conditioner everyday. Check out my pics...I have one of me from when my hair was down to my butt. I also never use heat on my hair or any styling product. My hair is uber thick and takes 1-3 hours to dry.
Me too - Nature's Gate Henna Shine shampoo and conditioner, as infrequently as possible (every 2-4 days). My hair is really thick and mostly dry, needs frequent conditioner. Never tried the dry shampoo, but definitely going to look into that after reading thread.0 -
Pretty random, but here goes it. Being on a horrible budget, I used this HORRIBLE shampoo and conditioner and now my hair is not as soft or smooth as it used to be. I got some samples in the mail and I am trying them out to see which might work best. Within the first use of Root Awakening by John Frieda, my hair was transformed. It is ultra soft and the smell stays with the hair, even after straightening it.
My question for you is, do you have any special kind of shampoo and conditioner that you use? Which ones do you avoid? I really want my super soft and smooth hair back, so it'd be nice to have some input on that too. Thanks!
I use this exact shampoo & conditioner!! I love it!! YOU dont even have to use that much & my hair is almost to my butt. Im so bumbed bc my walmart stopped selling it for some reason!! i think its worth the money. ene tho its $5+ for each bottle, i find it last longer than the cheap stuff bc u use less of it!0 -
Wow, this thread was pretty interesting! I have to wash my hair every day, I work in a dusty, dirty environment & wear a hard hat. I do agree with the non-conditioner use though. I LOVED Tame Clean Rinse, but I can't find it anymore. I love the smell of Prell Shampoo, but use a variety, Then a tiny bit of conditioner, just to get my hair slippery! lol I tend to knot.0

I have a dry shampoo I use, Ojon Full Detox Rub-Out Dry Cleansing Powder. I love it. There is spray and powder, and there are arguments on why each one is preferred over the other. It smells great and you don't have to worry about some staying to where it looks like dandruff!0
