Mine would be Avenged Sevenfold. They are amazing, and they always get me through hard times.

Arctic Monkeys. Do I even have to explain?

The Strokes are a close second, and Rise Against isn't too far behind.t
  • At the moment, the head and the heart.

All time would be Radiohead, Counting Crows, and Led Zeppelin.

    U2.

In my mind, this needs no explanation. They are simply the most amazing band. All of their songs are exactly as they should be. No crazy vocals from Bono, no unnecessarily long guitar solos from The Edge. Adam Clayton's bass riffs may be simple but they are perfect for each song, as is Larry Mullen, Jr.'s drumming. They've been going for over 30 years and they show no signs of stopping any time soon. Each album is better than the last, "No Line on the Horizon" was definitely well worth the wait! I could go on and on and on about why they are phenomenal...

The Runaways. They were simply amazing. Bikini Kill is a close second.
  • Super difficult, but I would have to say Deerhunter. What I love about their music is that I never have to be in the mood for it. It's neither depressing nor upbeat... it just morphs into whatever emotion I'm feeling and sits with me.
  • Blast from the past but still in my life....zepplin, stones and doors. Couldn't choose!

I go through spurts with music but I always go back to The Beatles. Otherwise, Id say the Kooks because I can never get enough!

Foo Fighters. Because of Dave Grohl. Nuff said.

RHCP. They've been making original, amazing music for decades.

These two bands will go down as two of the greatest, up there with the likes of the Stones, Zeppelin, etc.

I have VERY diverse music tastes, but my favorite band will always be Hanson (yes, THAT Hanson). They were the first band I really fell in love with, and still love them today. In fact, their music just keeps getting better and better and their songwriting skills and harmonies are really amazing. I first loved them when I was in 5th grade and I'm 25 now, so I feel like I've grown up with their music. It's like an old friend.

This will be by far the least "cool" answer in this thread, but I couldn't care less: Huey Lewis and the News.... because I feel 17 years old whenever I hear one of their classic tunes. First saw them live in 1984... they were amazing. I've been a loyal fan ever since.

2nd would be the J. Geils Band for similar reasons.

I don't have a favorite anything, but here's a list of ones from which I have many songs in my MP3 player.

Bob Marley & the Wailers because Bob gets it. He's laid back, smart & political - like me
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers because they're badass and lived in FL.
Red Hot Chili Peppers because many of their songs speak to how I kinda see my life.
Led Zeppelin because a guitar can be as exquisite as a voice.

    Journey

Because I love Steve Perry's soaring voice and Neil Schon's guitar mastery and the way Dean Castronovo beats the living ***t out of his drums.

Van Halen with Sammy Hagar because that was when the band peaked in lyrics and musicianship

Def Leppard cause 83-90 were my Wonderyears, the soundtrack of my life.
  • The Beatles!!!!

I found them when I was 13 and fell hard core. 17 years later I love them as much as I did day one. I have a tattoo of their logo, getting a second one next weekend and one of my sons middle name is Lennon. I think they call that obsession:bigsmile:

To me they just have the best music I have heard and John is just Amazing to me.

Iron Maiden. Awesome music. Interesting lyrics. Still going strong after over 30 years. And great for running.
