  • Hi - I am onthis right now... But, I am only planning to go another 2 weeks. I got on the diet as an experiment. I had a hard time losing any weight with thyroid disease, whereas weight used to drop off me no problems. I have been on the diet for 2 weeks now and have lost about 8lbs. Most people lose far more in the beginning, but most people eat like ****. I eat generally healthy - only 1 soda a day IF at all, tons of water, and very balanced meals. In fact , the biggest change for me coming nito this was that I could only have 4.5oz of lean proten ./ ...to food labels now, and can't believe half the crap I put into my body (IE carb %, fat grams, etc... the food science!).

I guess I could have used the money for a nutrionist, huh????? LOL

You are probably going to gain it all back, one soda a day? They are 150 calories, that means you are eating 350 in food? I hope you are taking vitamins so you are not ruining your health even more. :S

LOL I am on 800 cal a day, or 875 if I eat whol grains - which I do. I generally eat around 1000 cal/ day. and I exercise. The place I go does not allow under that. If I have a soda, it is diet. so, no, around 1000cal of food. And, yes, I take vitamins. As I said, I am getting off of it and only went on as a experiement because so many people swore by it. I acknowledge above that doing it the "right"/ healthy way is the best, but thanks for chiming in.

However, for the sake of the diet I am doing it as they specifiy. I am doing it under doctor supervision (hell no, not going to inject myself with something I bought overseas on the internet!!) and weigh in weekly. So far, I have very mixed feelings on it. On the one hand, I'm able to eat less and feel full and lose weight... but, I live terrified of what weight will come back when I am finished.
It is pretty expnsive too. My clinic charges $54 per week for HcG and appetite supressant (phentermine). I used the ap.sup. the first week but last week and beyond did not/am not. Honestly, I may only go another week to get to 21 days as is recommended for a so called "short round".
I've not noticed my clothes being looser, as again I've only lost 8lbs. I did eat lots of cake for my kid's birthday party one weekend and did not gain.

honestly, if you are looking for a jump start, I would say give it a try. BUT remember, I am giving this advice without seeing the end result, so I can't promise it will stay off. I AM glad that I do pay attention to food labels now, and can't believe half the crap I put into my body (IE carb %, fat grams, etc... the food science!).

just curious, do you have any hair?

    No. I wear wigs.
But, it was all burned off while filming a ... oh wait, that wasn't me.

Yes, hair is still here ;)

Weight used to drop off me with no problems either...when I was a little younger, and before the Hypothyroid fairy decided to pay me a visit and become my lifelong friend.

Do yourself a favor and get off that crap. You'll save money and possibly your long term health. Search in the forums for others' experiences. You can lose weight with "thyroid disease". It might take you a little longer than some, but it can be done. I am proof of this.

Can I friend you?? I'd love to have someone else w/ this to talk to. I dont WANT to feel like I have nothing else to try. I thought I'd give this a try, but no as I said before, I DO NOT intend to be on it long. I hit day 21 next tue. and will most likely come off at that point. Could use some healthy dieting support...

um i thought part of what the hcg was supposed to do was make you not hungry. then why would they give Phentermine

From what I got from the place, is to ease yourself into such a restrictive diet. Phentermine is only beneficial the first 2 weeks or so and then after that it is all in your head - according to my dr. Not saying I believe it or whatever.. just repeating what I was told. I dove in to this and WOW the backlash is INCREDIBLE. and I did look at the thread someone posted of the hcg thread with people being on it for round after round, and i've seen a lot that have said "well i gained this much...." and i dont like how that sounds. One more week though and then on to greener pastures.. or something.

I think that what frustrates a lot of people about this diet, is that what MOST people are REALLY saying when they go on this diet is this... "Hey, I plan on attempting to starve myself for months on end and lose hundreds of pounds. I realize I am doing this, but I am doing it under the guise of this "diet" so I don't sound so crazy. Thanks for your support! :D"

Sure! But be warned: I won't advocate HCG, not even as a temporary measure. If you cut back on calories (the healthy way), exercise, work hard, eat back at least some of your exercise calories, you will lose weight (assuming that you have things in check with your thyroid). It might take some time at first - I didn't see a loss for the first 7 or so weeks - but it will happen.
