He's not giving it to me until I lose all the weight I want to lose though  he's so cute

::blink:: I hope this was your idea.

He said he would if I wanted him to, but he thought it'd be good motivation (plus I'm cheap and don't want him spending all that money to have it sized and re-sized.) So kind of both, I guess.

Resizing is free, if done with a respectable jeweler :)

That is false. lol. No one is going to give you free gold, sorry lol

Sorry, but I have the same jeweler for almost 20 years. Resizing, cleaning, repairs. All Free. In fact, he just fixed a chain bracelet my dad gave me 22 years ago...bought from him...and Free fix.

Please dont tell me some adult person you know got a promise ring!!!???

When I was 16, my BF gave me his class ring and this was all really dandy and all. It basically meant I was his to everyone else. Same as his letter jack I got to wear. But promises made at 16 usually arent going to stand. Or maybe I was just love jaded even then.
But adults....ack. Honestly, I dont think an engagement or wedding ring stands for too terribly much anymore. So a promise ring is just lost on me.

That's very nice of him but that doesn't mean anyone else does it for free or that they are hence, not respectable jewelers.

The thing I never got about the whole "virginity" thing is, my mom preached it, but then anytime anyone I knew got married she would sneer and say they were just doing it so they could have sex.
  • well i got the shaft! i didnt get a promise ring. just a really big engagement ring! My ring is so pretty to me it doesnt need a band with it. Ive been married for 10 years and I still love it just like the day I received it.

but I want my promise ring! i have the perfect one in mind too!

Geesh... it's been like a couple of hours already and not one of you have sent me

a ring! :frown: I even made it simple for you. :grumble: Guess I misunderstood.... I thought

this thread was to hint to you all about what I wanted  .......... whatever :ohwell:

Oh, alright, I'll settle for some chocolate hazelnut something or other (cuz I don't think I'm

allowed to say it) from Justin's company

    Tasty stuff, Maynerd!

I think this is all a matter of opinion and your outlook is very subjective.

I personally would not get one but i think the idea of it is sweet and people getting them does not make them a child.

I had three purity rings when I was 15 to keep be abstinent from sex. They were the rings in the binder that I kept my Dungeon and Dragons characters in.

That's odd. I know most of my jewelry has also been resized, fixed, and clean for free by multiple jewelers.

Well, if you're sporting a "purity ring" you shouldn't be "getting the shaft."
