"H20" 70 Days Til Halloween Challenge
"Let the pounds 'fall' off"

Welcome, to those who haven't joined the group yet, you are more than welcomed to join in at anytime. You are ALWAYS welcomed. Introduce yourself and join in, its never too late. We always try to keep some kind of a challenge going on for everyone. The only think that I ask, is that we have not fighting going on in the forum. Other than that, jump in and enjoy!

weight-loss-motivation.jpg

While trying to make a lifestyle change, we have to remember to look in a new direction. We often forget, and fall back into our old habits, because we aren't attempting to go into a new direction. Old habits die hard, but if you put your mind to it you can and will succeed.

j0409011_1.jpg
Don't forget to weigh in!

How many miles have you walked/ran of the 150? Are you struggling? What can we do to help motivate you?

How many Crunches & Lunges have you done out of the 1000? Do you need some extra inspiration?

Challenges for WEEKS 3 & 4

Challenge 1: Stay in the green with your sodium atleast 3 days of each week, & try a new fruit & vegetable or retry one that you tried before and didn't like.

Challenge 2: Treat yourself to something small, youve been working so hard and you deserve a small treat. You choose if its food related or not. :) Maybe even something to help you with losing weight.. ;) (New workout dvd, or dumbbells, or workout clothes, ect.)

Challenge 3: Do 150 Squats (your choice what kind, try to challenge yourself a little bit), 30 minutes of stationary boxing three times, & 30 minutes total of meditation, over the next 2 weeks!

As always: remember your daily 3 positive things. You may list them if you'd like.

Quote of the week:
strength.jpg
People tend to look past their strengths, until they have not choice but to see how strong they really are. I am guilty of this. Instead of insisting on the weakness, we need to rely more on the strong person we are.

I hope everyone did well with the last set of challenges!! And I hope youre weekend went well. Anyone do anything interesting? Any new news out there? I hope you all enjoy these set of challenges.. I will have the next Set of Challenges up October 3rd!! This week is our halfway point!! :) yay! Until then, Enjoy & burn some calories! - April Val

Dont for get to add your weight, Miles, Crunches, and Lunges.. http://bit.ly/r6OV9n

Thanks for the new challenge! :flowerforyou:

Does TaeBo count as stationary boxing? Yoga and/or Pilates for Meditation?

ok so I completely bombed out on the week 3 & 4 challenges. Life just gets in the way sometimes and its real annoying!!!

Looking forward to this set! I think the sodium is going to be my toughest challenge.

    My positives are:
    1) my great new full time with benefits jobs I started yesterday
    2) Warrior Dash this weekend.
3)Biggest Loser starts tonight!! I love that show, but wonder how it will do without Jillian!!

khoran- glad youre happy or seem happy about the new challenges.. :) Hopefully you can kill it with the squats.. I know its hard to get towards the goals sometimes.. but thats why i make them quite challenging, or try to.. :)

Thanks, April, for some more good challenges!!! I'm hoping to have a green sodium level tonight, because I'm over WAY too often, so thanks for the reminder!!!

This is the week of my first half marathon.. it's this Saturday and I can't wait!!! I'm ready, feeling good and excited to see my friend from college who's driving 9 hours to run with me!!!! This taper week is killer though, I want to push and run farther and faster because I KNOW I can, but I'm following the plan. It's important to rest this week and not push so I have more energy the day of the race, I know this in my head, but my heart wants to RUN!!!! Geez... never thought I'd feel this way a year ago!!!!

People everywhere are telling me how great I look, which is a great feeling, but most are telling me I've got to be close or done already... little do they know I really wouldn't mind losing another 5-10!!! I'm not telling everyone that, just keeping it here on MFP, because it doesn't really matter if I do or not, it's all personal and vanity pounds from here on out because I'm more fit and healthy than I've EVER been!!!!

Anyway... I gained a pound at my last weigh in (which I told you all on Thursday) but I'm ok. Hoping to maintain this week and then start killing it at the gym next week (after I recover from the race). I think I may have even found a class to take on Saturday's to replace my long run for a while... it's a combo class, 30 min spin class/30 min yoga. I need to start yoga to work on my flexibility and strength... REALLY bad!!!!! Hopefully I can get in there and kill it at the gym... it sounds amazing!

Ok, hope you're all doing well.... get to leave work early tomorrow for my son's football game and then again on Friday since my friend is coming!!!! So many happies today I can't even list them!!!!

Thanks for all the new challenges April!

Still having some not-so-great food days, am trying to stay away from the scale until my regular Thurs weigh-in and am hoping for at least a small loss :)

I'm probably still retaining some water from Sunday's half marathon. Just training for me, but it was a rather hot day & seems my body always takes a few days to "reset" after all the sweat / work / rehydration.

Thanks for the new challenges April! I have to say, the lunge challenge is a great one because I'd been getting lazy with my lunges ("maybe I'll just do sets of 8 today instead of sets of 15..."), but now I'm back up to sets of 15 and they're going well.

    Miles run: 49.2/150
    Lunges: 410/1,000
    Squats: 30/150

I wasn't as active on here the last couple of weeks due to school starting and my family coming to town for a week long visit, but despite these things, I'm happy to say that I've been running 3x/week and getting in my weight circuit 1x/week. I've had to get up at 5:45am to fit it all in, but I did it!

Nikki - you've been a huge running inspiration for me and I'm so excited for your race this week! Just remind yourself the taper week will help you on the weekend and then enjoy the run! Once you finish the race, how much are you going to cut your running back?

ckdub428 - congrats on starting a new job - so exciting! I expect the sodium challenge to be tough too, but I'll keep an eye on those numbers and try to keep them green.

bjshooter - yay for losing another pound!

321blueeyes - it sounds like you know exactly what to do after a tough workout, and if you're keeping hydrated you're on track. If you get a loss, it's a bonus.

Cazz - I hate getting stuck too! I lost the same 3.5 lbs three times in August because we kept going away, then coming home, then going away again. You'll break it! How are things with the Slave Driver?

    Have a great day everyone!

Things with the Slave Driver are the same! ugh! I have decided that I can fit her into my budget for 2 visits a month. It might mean our 2012 summer vacation will be somehwhere in the US instead of the planned Italy for me and my son... but that's okay. I've been there before, plus... he will be 1 yr older and remember it better.

I have been working really hard to put myself first. Since my ex died, I have been thinking how important it is that I am here for my kids as long as I possibly can be... I am the only parent they have now. It's a weird thing... how moms always put themselves last for fear of seeming selfish or not being a good mom. I have turned that self talk around. If I DON'T put myself first, my kids won't have me at all!! I've been a mom for 29+ years now and it's time for a change. Naturally, I take my 11 yr old into consideration when making decisions, but it's important that I make choices for the RIGHT reasons.

Lisa... thanks for the encouragements!!! I'm so excited! I don't know exactly how much I'll cut back, but it will probably be a lot for now. I need a break! I'm looking at a spin/yoga combo class for Saturday mornings, but I'll probably still run a few miles three days a week, with a little speed workout on Thursday (max about 5-6 miles) and about 2-3 miles Tuesday and a nice easy run on Sunday. Also I'm going to weight train on Tuesday and maybe a little on Sunday (and Thurs if I have time/energy), my week is crazy enough without training every day!!!! After football season I'll reassess!!!

Plus I kinda want to do a 25k next spring, which will start training for in Dec/Jan... so it's only a short break from running!!!!

I have been really slacking with checking in with the group. I have been working slowly towards our goals though. Last week I did see that I gained a pound which I understand happens but it made me a little sad. I know it means I really just need to work harder if I want to see any changes with weight this month. I am down a couple inches though so I do feel better about that because it is he inches that people notice not the pounds.

    Squats/ 165/150
    lunges 250/1000
    crunches 565/1000
    miles 19/150

I need to pick it up in some areas but I hope to be able to pull it off. Happy to see that I am done with Squats though and will actually go well over that number this week.

My positive....Yesterday was my birthday and all of my gifts had to do with running! I guess my family totally gets what my passion is!

    Well, happy birthday girlie!!!!

My last training went really well today and I was just flying over the tempo run!!! Way faster than I'll go at the race, but it's good to know I CAN run under 10 minute miles!!! (and three in a row!) Girlfriend will be here tomorrow afternoon so we can be all rested and relaxed for the race, but I'm so excited I hope I can sleep!!!!

Best news today was, I hit my goal weight!!!! Or at least, the one I had posted... I may try another 5 pounds now that I'm here!!!! I hope I maintain it from here... REALLY don't want to return the size 4 pants I bought today!!! Oh yeah... it was a great day!!!!

Love you all.... I'll check in after the race this weekend.... happy thoughts appreciated!!!!

Good luck with your race on Saturday! I wish I was heading down to Holland to run the race too. Instead I'll be up in Petoskey for a cross country meet.

Loveme445 - excellent stats! What an inspiration!

My progress as of today - Sun 9/25
    Miles: 96/150
    Crunches: 650/1000
    Lunges: 300/1000

The mileage is going well, I have lightened up a bit due to some bursitis in my hip (chronic issue) and trying to keep it from flaring up too bad during these last 4 weeks of training for my Half Marathon. After this race is over, I think I'll focus on some other types of cardio (swim, bike, 30DS) to try to kick this bursitis once and for all!

Crunches are going OK, should be no problem to complete by Halloween deadline.

My lunges are lacking, but at least I'm making some progress, certainly much more progress than I would make on my own without the H20 encouragement!

Push-ups - getting close 160/200 and should have this done by 9/30

Squats 0/150, need to get on this! At least squats are not an evil as the lunges to my knees!

Hey, remember when you were "stuck" at like 150??? It wasn't that long ago... and look at you now!! Great job!

I hit the gym tonight for an old fashioned weight session... and it was AWESOME! I missed pushing myself like that... all the running was taking over my life for a while, but I'm back at it. I saw a lady that I used to see all the time and she stopped me to ask how I got so tiny!!! LOL! I did feel good... even ran 2 miles on the treadmill (still hate that thing) and overall just remembered what I liked about the gym last winter and spring! Still nothing quite like a good long run for me....

Came home and ate all the calories I needed for the day... Biggest Loser is about to make me cry, so I'll be hitting the sack soon!

Hi ladies! I'm so sorry I haven't been in here. I've really lost my mojo to exercise, post, even drink water. Only thing I'm kinda doing right is watching my food, and the scale shows that, as I've steadily been maintaining. I really do need to dig down inside of me and remember what I liked about exercising, because right now I just have no desire to work out. I remember enjoying it, and the thought of running around the track or walking with Leslie or knocking down the challenge's numbers of crunches/squats/lunges was something I'd look forward to. Now...*shrug*

I'm really hoping that in about three weeks my life will have calmed down a bit and I can get back to working on my fitness. I had to cancel my gym membership (on the gym that I joined during pre-sale while it was waiting to be built) since it is more than likely that I won't be living near it when it opens. So that sucks. And that groupon I have to the ballet cardio class...yeah I used it once.

No need to apologize, we all go there at one time or another. Take it from me...my streak was MONTHS long. You will get back into it when you are ready. Glad to hear that you are making decent food choices. How's the house hunting going? Did you find something you like? Miss hearing from you..but you do what you gotta do!
