It's all about the tracking

I recently saw an interview of one of the trainers on My Biggest Loser. He was talking about one of the contestants who got the most plublicity on the show that had lost 200 lbs. He said that after the show , in time, Eric had gained his weight back. But the good news is... Eric lost the weight again and learned that tracking your daily food intake is the key to keeping the weight off. He was saying that training your mind to eat the foods that are the proper portions, calories, fats etc. will make it second nature to do it long term. But continueing to track your food intake helps you to stay on target like keeping a budget with your finances. A person can put a lot of hard work and discipline into losing weight but the eating habits and regular excercise must be maintained to keep hold of your success.
As we all know, My fitness pal is so awesome for this reason. It takes the work out of doing this yourself from the start and gives the needed support at the same time. When all is said and done about diets, this is truly the healthiest and best way to do it.

I so agree too! i believe that with progress and time we will all just be healthier through this site. I know I watch what i put into my mouth now! i will look at the back of it and make sure i can have it and so forth versus me just getting it and eating it!0

I'm almost 6 months since hitting goal and still tracking daily (and currently 7 pounds under goal) and don't plan on quitting any time soon...0

I couldn't agree more. I have coworkers paying big bucks to doctors for shots, diet pills etc. I feel that I want to do this the 'honest' way by focusing on my food and exercise and making the good habits stick. MFP does make the tracking so much easier. It makes me more dedicated.0

love the tracking!!! my favorite part is marking the day is done and seeing what weight i'll be in 5 weeks if I keep on track. That makes everything I put in mouth more important. 100 calories a day makes a big difference in weeks.0

YES, definitely a big motivator!0 -
Yes, so true. It can be so easy to eat the the giant-size meal served at a restaruant or grab a couple extra snacks or another portion , but being accountable by logging everything makes me see how much damage that can do.0

I agree with that but one thing that is different this time than my other times is that this time I asked for friends and I feel that the pressure from them everyday to keep within my goals of tracking or to exceed my goals of working out have helped me a ton! So if you are reading this and you have no friends on this site then make some. Just ask and they will respond.0
