I was the one so accelerated I had to have special one-person groups for reading, math, etc.

Haha! Me too! My teacher would wake me up during naptime and make me read to her. And every student in the class had a set of index cards with whatever vocabulary words the teacher felt were appropriate for each individual. Most of the students had 10 or 15 cards. My ring of cards had nearly 100. It was actually sort of embarrassing because back then (1988ish), teachers were still encouraged to single out the advanced students.

Also, I was the bossy one. I was always telling everyone else in the class what to do, especially if we were preparing for a play or something and everyone else was standing around like "I don't know what to do," I was the one telling them where to stand, when to speak, etc.

I was also the one who didn't want to share. My crayons were MINE. I always got a "needs improvement" on my report card for the Sharing category.

I was a biter. At daycare, I had a sticker on my back that said, "Carol's a biter."

I didn't start real school until I was in 2nd grade (St. Jude's kid, here!). But when I started, I was the tiny bald girl that liked to show off her cool scars!

I was the kid who was so shy, quiet, and timid that my teachers thought I had hearing problems/learning disabilities. Shows how much they know.

Me too! They wanted to keep me back through several grades, but my mom let them have her mind. She's a badass.

Also me. I was so "timid" that they wouldn't let me start kindergarten early even though I was smart enough. They said my social skills needed more developing. The way I see it- I never should have started school if it were based on my social skills...ha

HA! Me too! I am pretty shy/socially awkward still.

Too often they correlate shy or timid with slow. I was able to complete and comprehend all of my assignments, there was nothing wrong with my intelligence. I simply did not want to talk to anyone.

I was always the biggest, the strongest, and the fastest in all things recess or elementary gym class. Some thought it was genetics, others just thought it was because I was 18.

Is there still a need for you to wear that sticker?

I didn't go to preschool,,, but starting in Kindergarten, all my report cards said something to the effect
"She isn't focused on school work, prefers socializing and being the class clown"

I had my first kiss in kindergarten - then I punched that boy in the face. Other than that I was super shy and quiet.

Same here! It actually took me joining the military to really break me out of my shell at the age of 22. I enjoy socializing at work, but outside of work I still prefer to be alone. Parties, going to movies with friends, all of those things will always make me uncomfortable, I think. A big part of me still doesn't want to talk to anyone.

I was the little girl (tomboy) that played the games all the boys played. Hated anything really girly. I'm not that little girl anymore...except for playing the games the boys play.

    True story.

Although, it wasn't so much that I was hitting boys, I just made them cry. Mostly if they were mean to someone else, I'd make them cry, or if they were mean to me, or if I didn't like them...I was less discriminating than I like to think I was.

I was the shy quite type that everyone picked on up until High School and moved to another town. Then I became the social extrovert...

I was the weird one no one liked, including the teachers, and sat in the corner on my own getting bullied.

Edit - I only made friends with the boys and couldn't stand the girls as I fundamentally didn't, and still don't, understand female group politics.

My best friend (who is my mother's best friend's daughter and that's how we met in the first place) was a terrible biter! She used to bite me all the time and her mother would tell me to just bite her back, but I never would.

It's a fun story to tell now that we're in our 30s.

I didn't go to preschool. My mommy was home.

My Mummy was home too, as am I, but I still went to pre-school, and my children have too. It's only 3 mornings a week, and it helps socialise them for when they start full time school.

I was the talker. ALWAYS in trouble for disrupting the class. Was kinda manipulative and would worm my way into the teachers heart so I wouldn't get in as much trouble for being disruptive. I spent ALOT of time in the hallway :ohwell:
