Thanks for this! I will share this. I weigh everyday because I'm interested in the trends, but I don' t let it affect my mood. If I didn't go over by 3500 it's not fat.

i feel the scale is a necessary tool for those with a lot of weight to lose. the closer to your goal maybe not, but starting out its needed...daily can be a depressing remider of how much you need to lose, but i think once or twice a month is necessary in the beginning stages.

Thank you! my sister needs to read this... she stopped walking because she always "gains weight" when she exercises regularly... I keep trying to tell her that's muscle, but maybe this can convince her it's more than that.

YOU ROCK FOR THIS POST! I've been trying to tell my discouraged MFP friends that the scale is not their friend. I do weigh myself everyday right now, but only because I'm experimenting. I've been up and down but I don't let that influence my journey because I know the number displayed is subjective at best. I've come to find that taking measurements is what counts!

That’s one reason why a fit, active person is able to eat considerably more food than the dieter who is unwittingly destroying muscle tissue.

I just felt like this needed highlighting. Thanks for posting!
