my favorite is NOT a waistline fave: new england clam chowder. ironically, second fave is a summer soup: gaspacho. other than those? anything with cheese...i'm not a brothy soup kinda gal. give me the creams or the chunky, hearty soups.

Not my favorite, but lentil soup is the easiest and cheapest thing to make.
2 cups lentils, 2 quarts stock (I use concentrated), chopped carrots and onions, thyme, maybe a dash of cumin and just cook. I use the slow cooker. Sometimes I add some frozen chopped spinach for greenery.
  • A good vegetable beef soup.

  • Try the Progresso light New England Clam Chowder -- pretty darn good and low cal/low fat too!

Also, I used to hate mushroom soup, but I found a low cal version last winter that rocks, using some low cal soft cheese instead of cream.

Cheesy Pepper Pot is a Favorite of Mine!
    Roasted Cream of Vegetable.
    Mexican Corn chowder!
    Caramelized Cauliflower Bisque.
    BBQ beef and Bean
The list goes on. I make Saturday and Sunday for the restaurant that I work at. So I have a ton of unique, Classic and Twisted
Moroccan Beef and Dumpling! is a unique one. Cocoa and Coffee are some of the main flavors

Soup is supposed to have dimensions!. The beginning Flavor, The middle and a ending. All different Flavors melded into one but being able to taste them. A love starting with a sweet lingering flavor, That transfer to a slightly buttery middle and A slightly Spicy Ending.

Cold weather? What is this cold weather that you're talking about? It was 103 degrees here yesterday!

But I love soup any time of year.... I usually brown some meat and then see what veggies are in the fridge to add to it, plus some chicken stock. Lately I've been doing the 10 bean soup mix and adding chicken sausage. It turns out delicious. And this week I made black bean soup - just black beans, some veggies, water, and I added some ham.

If anyone has an idea for a "light" chicken and dumplings recipe, I'd love to have it!

    Tortilla Soup!! yum

I am a soup lover. Campbells Healthy Request and Progresso Heart Healthy soups are my staple lunches. Lots of variety. (caution ONE can is TWO servings... but even two servings is low cal... why do they do that?)

BUT homemade soups are the best. I sometimes get a big pot and put some water and bullion in. Then I start going through the fridge and adding all sorts of vegitables and some meats... Then some of my favorite spices (pepper, thyme, parsley, basil, sage, rosemary, taragon... depending on the meats) and let it simmer for a while. When its looking good I top it off with separately cooked noodles or rice (if the rice or noodles are not pre-cooked its easy to over cook them, but at any rate you will need more liquid if you put them in uncooked, unless you don't like the broth then all the better!)

Colder weather doesn't really make it to south Florida, but I eat soup anyway.

    Favorites (in order):

    - lobster bisque (specifically from Hogfish Bar & Grill in Key West/Stock Island)
    - mushroom, any kind
    - fish tea

I love all soups, usually the thinker creamy ones are my faves (of course). But, now I am looking for healthy alternatives, I make a mean Chicken soup with a Mexican twist, basically a lot of veggies and boneless chicken. Then top it off with some cilantro and lime juice. Grab a tortilla, Tapatio and chow-down!

A quick and easy would be Lentil soup and I add a can of corn. Oh so good!

My absolute favorite is corn chowder. Thankfully I can't make a good corn chowder so I don't have it often and other runner ups are chili, beef and vegetable stew, chicken and veggies, veggie soup...pretty much any soup providing it has no seafood/fish in it! :)

My favorite is hands down a hot bowl of chili. It has to be spicy enough to rip the paint off the walls. Perfect.
