It depends. For someone who has a lot to lose can lose it quick. It took me 4 months to lose 35 pounds. I was 12% bodyfat after that, so my starting weight wasn't really high.0

It took me almost a year (maybe longer)... but I took my time and I was NOT using this website. I didn't know of it at the time! In hindsight, it would've taken me a lot less time.0

Weeeeell, I'm at about 29 pounds, but that's close enough, right!?
It took me from the start of June, so about 4 months. Although it's important to note I lost an entire FIFTEEN pounds the first month alone, it just dropped right off like it was sick of being on me, then about 8 pounds the second month, only about 2 pounds the third month (I wasn't strict AT ALL this month), and then good 5 pounds last month.0 -

Gr8 timing on your post as I hit the 30 lbs lost mark TODAY It has taken me 10.5 weeks and I am nearly 50% of the way through to GW. I hit a BMI of 30 today too - it's all about the 30's !0

Just under 2 months, although I started really high so it has come off pretty quick so far.0

I had 30 to lose total. I started MFP on February 15, 2011. I have never gone off track or gained weight, though I plateaued for two months. Today I am 10 days shy of my 8 month MFP anniversary and am less than 2 pounds from my goal. It has taken me a looooong time compared to others!
I should also add that if you have 30 to lose TOTAL, you can't compare yourself to someone who has 100 pounds to lose. They'll lose that 30 like nobody's business but slow towards the end. I found the last 10 or 15 pounds to be the most difficult to come off and had to set MFP at a 0.5 pound/week loss for the last 10 in order to lose at all.0 -
I'm at 26 pounds lost and it took me just over 8 months.
If you have a lot to lose though it will go a lot quicker then if you don't have that much.0 -

My overall goal was to lose roughly 50lbs. The first 30 came off in about 2mos...the next 10 took some time...These last 10-15lbs are going to fight me LoL0

5 months and I had only 32 to lose.0
