C25K: Rejoice with me!

Week 9, Day 1: 30 min run. 5k. Done.
Nine weeks ago I was dizzy and sick and praying for a quick, merciful death after a few repetitions of one minute running.
Tonight I went a touch beyond 5k in my alloted time.
My knees are killing me, I feel a little sick in a strange and not altogether unpleasant way, I stink and I don't know where my body is finding the fluid to keep sweating, but I did it. I have gone from couch to 5k.
YOU HEAR ME, WORLD? (you know who you are) I DID IT! YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Edit: AND I did it two days early, AND I had to run into the wind. So nyah.

I am struggling through starting week 2 now. I applaud you, and couldn't possibly be prouder of someone I don't know. WAY TO GO!!0
-
Rachela99, you can. If I did, you can.
Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I swear, in week two I was doing a funny kind of running movement but it was a plodding, heavy thing. I promise you you can do it, just don't fear the struggle.0 -
I'll be doing W4D2 shortly. D1 about killed me!!!
Congrats on your accomplishment!0 -
This is excellent. Well done, you!0

Congratulations! I'm in week 1, and this is much needed inspiration.0
-
Congratulations and thank you for inspiring me to continue. Tommorow morning is my last run of week 1....and I'm terrified to continue on. I am not a runner....yet....0
-
Nice job, I just did my W9D1 last night myself, I'm not quite at the distance yet, but I figure I'll worry more about that once I finish the last 2 runs. :drinker:0
-
Congratulations...you are turning yourself into an athlete one workout at a time0
-
that is truely an accomplishment you should be proud of.0
-
You are awesome!!
I just finished up W5D2, and I'm so nervous about the 20 minutes of running on D3. I killed 15 minutes on Tuesday, but today just barely had two rotations of 8 in me.
Way to go, and thanks for the motivation0 -
Well done, you should be proud of yourself.0
-
Fantastic - well done. I'm on Week 3 run 3 tomorrow, it is amazing how quickly your fitness seems to improve with this brilliant programme. Congratulations again and I hope I can post a similar message in the future!0
-
That's fantastic! Congrats. I started it, made it through week 1, and then had to take a temporary break due to a root canal. I can't wait to get started again.0
-
WTG!!! I'm right behind you just did W7D2..0
-
I've got W4D2 to complete tomorrow morning. I did suprisingly OK on W4D1 and I felt awesome!!! I can't wait to be where you are!!!
Congrats on the last run!!! You are awesome!!!!0 -
Congratulations! You should be very proud.
I am in w4 right now. I've had to lengthen the walks in between by a couple of minutes, but I've done the runs. I'm always intimidated by the next level, and they do practically kill me the first time, but I'm always amazed that by the 3rd time it's not so bad. It's incredible how fast we grow and improve!0 -

If you've completed week 1, you are a runner . . .already0 -
HI. I just started on MFP a week ago, tomorrow. I was just wondering what all of you are talking about? I would love to be able to run a 5K; in fact that is something I have wanted to be able to do for years. If you could fill me in I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks0

Here's all you need to know about the program! http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml0 -
Oh lordy me, I wasn't expecting such kindness. How embarrasingly nice of you all to take the time: sincerely thank you all so very, very much. Nothing I've never done was described as an inspiration to anyone, nor motivational. Deterrant yes, warning yes. Unacceptable risk, once or twice (thanks mum). But I could burst with pride for the nice things you've all said.
I don't know if any of you are revisiting this thread, but if you are, especially those of you in the earliest stages of C25K, I tell you honestly, you can do it. The earliest weeks are very hard, shocking almost. The mindbending prospect of W5D3 is not as bad as it threatens to be. I wish you all very well, and if you need a boost just let me know.0 -

Thank you very much  I am looking at it now. Can't wait!0 -
That is fantastic....I am rejoicing with you. I too have been doing the C25K program myself....and am still rejoicing that I was able to get through week 5, day 3.....the dreaded 20 minute jog!!! But I did it, I made it through! It has taken probably about 12 weeks for me to get to week 5, but I did it. I feel your joy!!! Kudos to you on a job well done!!!!!0

I LOVE LOVE your sense of humour! You made me giggle so much my hubby came in the room to ask me what was so funny. Now, down to business. GREAT JOB! I am on week 2 of C25K and loving it. I was a runner in the past but encountered a hip issue last July, not running related, and am thrilled to get back into it. I picked this program because it is the safest way to build up to running. Congrats to you and your accomplishment and thank you so much for the laugh. It really is hard ! Have a heathly and happy day MFP0

Please someone tell me where I can get the info for this running program...thank you!0
