Gosh, you eat so little! I eat that amount of calories before dinner even rolls around. Bump up your calories with healthy choices! If you are already feeling full I would eat a few Tbsp of peanut butter since it is so calorie dense, but if you are hungry all day long load up with veggies, whole grains, and fruit!

Thank you. I will def go get some celery and dip it in some P.B. Thanks.

    You aren't eating enough!
You are below 1200 calories everyday. You will notice your body starting to hold onto weight as opposed to losing it if you continue this too long.

Aim to lose 1 pound a week and increase your calorie intake by at least 300 calories.

Thanks. When trying to get up to my 1200, I don't know what to eat. Do you think just adding more fruit is ok even though its high in sugar?

Don't just eat more fruit to increase your calorie intake.
    Eat protein, eat some carbs..

Basically, how I lost weight was just eating things in smaller quantities than I had before. I still eat pasta, I still eat rice, I still have chicken, steak, and the like. I just don't eat as much of it. You need to add substantial foods that are going to keep you full.

Awesome! Thank you so much. I was trying to stay away from the pasta and rice but now I see I don't have too as long as its in moderation. Thanks.

You need to eat more 1200 is the min. for a small sedentry woman!

Thanks. That is the amount MFP set for me. What do think I should shoot for?

The amount MFP set for you... 1200

Oh ok. I thought you were saying I should eat more than 1200. Thanks for the advice.

I'll be honest with you, I eat whatever I want. I try to make healthful choices most of the time but I also have a bit of dark chocolate almost every day. If I want some chips, I measure out a serving and have chips. Please don't be scared to eat. This can also backfire as eventually your body will "come up for air" and you'll want to go on an eating rampage. Last week I increased my average daily calories to 1650 and I lost four pounds. I am not saying that's the right number for YOU but I will say that you will be happier and your plan more sustainable if you EAT!

Wow! about your 4 pounds. I am taking in everyone's advice and its pretty much the same. Thanks so much!

Try Truvia as a sugar substitute. I dislike artificial sweetners and find this one to be close to sugar and its natural. Also like everyone else says, eat more calories. Sometimes at night when I have some left I'll eat some nuts and as a snack or even popcorn. I go low on carbs because I have blood sugar problems and it works better for me.

Thanks. I wanted to try Truvia and when I went to buy some, it was really expense so I didn't purchase any. I am going to try to meet my 1200 a day goal. Thanks again.

I track my sugars but don't worry if I go over with sugars from fruit or veges! I don't worry so much about naturally found sugars as much as I worry about refined sugars.

    I will remember that. Thanks!

Agreed! Your success will come to a screeching halt in a couple weeks time and at that point you may actually gain weight in order to correct your shot metabolism. Don't destroy your body in your efforts to improve it.

You are eating way too little. You shouldn't eat less than 1200/day under no circumstances.
Other than this, I like your carb-count, but you are not eating enough protein. And this is what's keeping you satiated, lessens your cravings and prevents you to lose the muscle along with the fat. And you don't want that.
So: eat more, especially protein. And try to exercise more, if possible - this implies eating even more (like around 200 cals extra, not the entire exercised calories).

Thanks.... I will def keep that in mind. Do you think a protein smootie is an ok breakfast?

I think that a protein shake for breakfast is way better than just a coffee - plus it will bring you lots of protein in less than 150 cals. I try to get my protein from food, but I'm seriously thinking in buying some protein powder for "emergencies'', when I have an empty fridge or for fast post-workout protein.

Hi! Congrats on taking the first step! I think you need to do some research, or even better, see a dietician or nutritionist. It will give you confidence in your food choices (i.e. a little bit of fat is a good thing - you should not feel gulty about 1 piece of cheese!) Every body is different so you will get a LOT of conflicting advice on here. A dietician can set you up a meal plan especially for you, and once you've gotten used to it and found what works for you, you will be more comfortable making your own choices. Feel free to add me so you can check out my diary too. Good luck!

Thanks. I will check into some protein powders. Smoothie King has a new Lean one.... Its about $50 for a 2-4 week supply. I am going to compare their's to some cheaper brands.

Thanks for the advice.... I am going to have to look into that. I have a few books on weight loss but they can be quite confusing. I will look into the nutritionist thing. Thanks a bunch!
