Hubs and I cannot wait... We just ran out of Doctor Who S6 to watch and haven't yet started buying Starz Torchwood, so the start of TWD is well timed for us. uber-Sci-fi geeks here! great to see chatter about SotD, too. Anyone know when american version of Being Human returns?

This latest season of Torchwood was kick-butt. You will love it. After watching the BBC version of Being Human first, I couldn't stand the American version. Same with Skins and a lot of other shows that BBC shows first.

JUST saw that BBC BH is available via OnDemand, so I will check it out ASAP... Have been avoiding Tw precisely because of move to Starz (ick), well, that and loss of Ianto :brokenheart: But will check out Tw! I actually know nothing about Skins...worth taking a peek?

A lot of teenage angst, drugs, sex, bad language, etc. But it was entertaining. When the U.S. version came out on MTV it didn't last long because people where in an uproar about it being "child porn" and advertisers were running away in droves. I guess if you let people know that kids under the age of 18 have sex, it is news. Gasp. lol

I HATED this series of Torchwood! It was way to cheesy and American, and also, it barely felt like torchwood. Hardly any alien stuff, too much CIA. And dinny get me started on the American remakes of our shows, it's really insulting :L
Especially since it's the same script just with American actors. Like with shameless, the whole benefits culture that the show is about doesn't exist in the USA so the show just doesn't work at all. God, next thing you know they'll be remaking trainspotting in American...actually no, that would be too bad, that would mean it's the end of the world.

Just gonna point out I don't have a problem with american TV, I love friends and walking dead and loads more stuff, it's jsut when our shows get translated into American rather than just broadcasting our versions really pisses me off xD

We're rewatching season 1 right now as a refresher!!! Soooooo excited for season 2!!!!!!

Same thing I did, I rewatched season 1 on Netflix so that I'll be ready for season 2. I can't wait!! And I actually think that since the show did great in it's first season, this one will be more than just six episodes.

BTW, anyone know whatever happened to Merle??? They went to look for him and then it seems like they forgot about him...

@sexforjaffacakes - Thanks for opinion of Tw! I'm on-board with your general assessment of translation to Am tv... My first thought was: what will they do with Captain Jack's pansexuality? so refreshing to see a masculine male who can have relationships with men (!!)--in Am, we generally get weak or closeted men and loads of "sexy lesi" for the hetero-male audience that seems to reign here (ugh)... Re Trainspotting: may be too close to correct--there's an American redux of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on the horizon--i think it's in post production... maybe not too bad, since we've imported Daniel Craig...

I live in Scotland!! We don't get it for aaaaages </3
BUT... you have super cool, sexy accents.
This is true. But we don't have guns here, so whenthe zombies take over we're ****ed!
No. I saw "Shaun of the Dead". I have nothing but faith in the UK. Plus, William Wallace didn't have guns. Seriously, who's gonna kick more *kitten* than the Scots?!

    * Full disclosure: I have a good amount of Campbell in me.

I have a lot of Campbells back in my family tree also. They married into my McPheeters line that came to USA from Scotland in the 1600's. I love doing the genealogy stuff.
    Cuz!

Considering I run to the comic book store like an excited 14 year old boy ever time a new issue of the Walking Dead comes out, I'd say I'm excited. I'm bummed that the Season Pass on iTunes went from $9.99 to $34.99. That's how I got all the episodes last year.

havent watched the show yet but ive read the comic books. i have season one around here somewhere and planned to watch it before season 2 started >.>

The comics are vastly superior to the show. That being said, the show is vastly superior to most shows that are on TV.

    D:

They do it so Americans can "relate to the culture"...but I think that insults american people's intelligence, like it's assuming they're too thick to understand different accents or want to learn about different ways of life. We watch tons of American TV that's very strong in American culture (friends, glee etc) and just because we can't directly relate to some of it doesn't mean we don't understand or appreciate the shows. It's intersting to watch foreign shows! The fact that we share a language makes it so easy for us to share culture and tv shows and stuff, so I think it's such a shame both for the creators of the original shows and for the American people missing out!

If you watch shameless especially, it just can't be done in American because as I said earlier there is just no equivalent of a benefits funded council estate in America xD

    Arrrghhh. Angry face.

And the thing with Torchwood this season, I think they took it a bit far with the bum lovin, especially since Captain jack is just gay now rather than pansexual. It was kind of like, hai we have a gay character, dare you to say something about it! Again I think that was largely to shock the American audience. I mean, in the UK people are pretty much over the gay thing. No one cares. There's no need to make a big deal out of gay characters on TV cuz like no one cares :L
But yeah I felt a lot of the sex scenes in this season of Torchwood was to kinda get a raise out of the crazy extreme christians that only exist in America :L Apparently some of the sex scenes were cut in the UK broadcast but not the American one! Pretty pissed off about that, we only watch torchwood to see john barrowman naked!
And one last thing I find funny/bad at the same time, there were hundreds of complaints about the graphic sex scenes, but none about the grotesque graphic violence when jack gets killed again and again...mind you, the people that complained about the bum sex probably don't mind seeing a gay guy get killed over and over again!

I'm hoping for more Zombie killings too.. I was a little disappointed in the lack of zombie killing in the final episode of season 1.
