your not old, maybe on crack for saying so but not old, but STAR WARS
  • Twilight RANT: How is it that so many (particularly YOUNG) women do not see the allusions to repeat-pattern abusive relationships? (She is perpetually and willingly at-risk throughout the majority of the series--and young women just absorb her mentality--such a WEAK women, terrible role model...)

    Bravissimi!!!

    Well said.

    On that note..

    1 Star Wars!

    2 LOTR

    3 Harry Potter

(Although there are many that I prefer over these).

I agree Star Wars, the original and still the best, the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Never bothered with Twilight.

    LOTR for the win.
    Harry Potter is second
The only reason I'd watch star wars would be to avoid watching twilight.

Soooo I never said any of these movies are in the same "category" other than the obvious, which is that they are all fantasy flicks/books.

With that said, so far we have:
    Star Wars: 39
    Lord of the Rings: 19
    Harry Potter: 16
    Twilight: 12

Star Trek snuck in with 3 votes.
(Though if it was an option during voting, I'm positive it would have more.)

    Movies: LOTR, no question.

Books: I would have said LOTR, but now that I think about it, Harry Potter comes closer than I would have thought.

I'm a huge LOTR fan (the book and the extended film versions), and I really loved the HP books more than I thought I would, especially the last two books although I didn't like the films so much especially the last one. If you like them, you should read Game of Thrones. It's wonderfully written and fantastically intricate.

I'm sneaking in here to say thanks for the book tip. :-) haven't gone all bookworm in a while and I need a fix.

    Star Wars

Funny, none of the others stood a chance. My friends are into Twilight, but not me. And while I love Harry Potter, it's because it's a great read, nothing else (weak characterisation of Harry seemingly intentional, etc).

    LOTR! #1
    Star Wars #2
    Twilight #3
    HP LAST
I have never seen a Harry Potter movie, Twilight isnt too bad and Star Wars is a close second to LOTR

“Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend.”
    ― Stephen King

That being said, I'd have voted Star Trek if it were on the list. Since it isn't, LOTR, followed by Harry Potter, followed by Star Wars. Twilight is not even a blip on the radar and doesn't deserve to be listed.

Not listed as an option, but seriously Star Trek.

Twilight is just terrible. What a terrible message about love, relationships, etc. Ugh. I will say though, watching the movies does make for an interesting drinking game...

Agreed. The series is called Song of Ice and Fire. I'm just starting book 2 now

Not really a fan of any of the above, but if I had to pick, I would say "Harry Potter".

I think the Harry Potter books polarized a generation and got them reading again. I know it was the first serious books that my youngest started reading.

Oh, yes, everyone should read it! George RR Martin is amazing, and one of my big fears in life is him dying before completing the series. Let's all say a little prayer for his health.
The HBO series is turning out really good, as well, but definitely read the books!

That is the polar opposite of my recommendation on the Twilight books. LOL
