One of my two favorite book series EVER (The other is the Dark Tower by Stephen King). The books are AMAZING!!! Plus you won't have the wait some of us did between the last two books, though who knows how long we'll be waiting for the next one.

The first book is called "The Game of Thrones" It's officially the Song of Ice and Fire series.

The books are a little harder to get into because they are so epic but I say it's worth it to plug along through the first one.

Only the first one is called Game of Thrones. The entire is a Song of Fire and Ice.

It's the definition of "epic", although I had to push myself to make it through Book 4. Book 5 was amazing tho.

Hope it doesn't take him 6 more years to bring out the next book.

And only 10 episodes. If you really want to enjoy the series, the books are the way to go, there is a tremendous amount of content cut in the TV series.

My boyfriend got me into the tv series. He went on and on about and nagged and nagged for me to watch an episode. I finally did, which I avoided because I thought it was going to be all about epic battles, but oooh, I love me some drama!

That's my favorite. I stopped after book 5 (I think it was), though.

Game of Thrones is totally win. I'm just starting book 2 - got distracted by some other stuff between them. The show is very close to the books. As close as you'll get while having to cut content. At least the storyline is close, unlike the TV adaptation of Sword of Truth. Talk about disappointing...

I'm on Book 5. ABSOLUTELY EPIC!!!!! <-- if i could make the font bigger i would! LOL Im half way through and i wanna rush though it to see how it ends.

I believe the season 2 will be in April? at least that's the last I had read.

I've heard a lot about the Sword of Truth series.. I may start on those while I wait for book 6!
  • Should I catch up on season one and watch season two? Is it worth following? I was interested in the show, but never got to seeing it.

Do you plan on reading the books? If so, definitely read the first book before finishing the season.

I had heard about it.. and one night we were skimming through our HBO channels and we caught the beginning with the "others" and we were HOOKED! we thought it was going to be all creepy and about those things.. but we were pleasantly suprised as to how good it was.. plus we love Sean Bean! LOL

How does this show compare to storylines like the Hunger Games, Insider, Lost Girl, Liar Game, etc??? I like mystery/suspense/thrillers. :)

All I have to say is: OMG yessssssssssssssssss. I am a huge sci-fi/fantasy nerd. I own comic books. This series has had me hooked since R. R. started it, and when I saw that HBO picked it up, I was fearful. Then, pleasantly surprised. The show gives me something to do while I wait for him to get a move on the next book. Be warned...he is notoriously sloooooooooooooooow.

Me too!! I love the Dark Tower series! I started reading it when I was a kid...and I've pre-ordered the next one. Long days and pleasant nights!
  • I was surprised to really enjoy it too! and waiting til next spring for season 2 is toooo long...although I gotta say the series is over sexified, its actually quite disgusting when it comes to that ;p otherwise definitely worth watching!
