Game of Thrones

  • My current obsession! I have seen the first season at least 20 times (not exaggerating) and I'm currently at the end of A Clash of Kings. I saw someone ask about the DVD release date. I cannot find it anywhere! I'm thinking it'll be out at least by Christmas though. I hope so as it's on my list. The show is fantastic and sticks fairly close to the books in my opinion. Obviously some stuff has to be left out but it's much closer than a lot of other adaptions I've seen. Curiosity prevailing (and to keep this thread going), which house do you claim loyalty to?

This is such a hard decision (especially if you've read further into the series!! :D)

My first thought is Stark, but I also like the Targaryens... Or the Tullys.. but I don't like Lysa.. AH!!

This is the thing I love most about the books.. every character and every house has depth. No one is all good or all bad. Soooo wonderful. <3<3<3 Makes it hard to choose though!

Let's just say that I'm for the house I SUSPECT is Jon Snow's actual house. I'll leave it there.

No problem. I may be a know-it-all, but I try to be a considerate one. :-) My guesses are usually on target, you should have seen my DH when we watched Usual Suspects...he accused me of having seen it before. LOL

 too funny! I haven't gotten deep enough to really be able to have a total educated guess quite yet, but I *may* be able to see where you're going. Only about 100 pages into book 2 right now.

I like the books, but one of my peeves is one of the reasons some people dig them.

I like the Starks (on the whole--that includes Snow), Daenarys (sp?), and Tyrion.

PM me too because I think we are on the same page here :) And I looove discussing theories!

Same! I love the depth of the characters and how you can loathe a character one minute and love him/her the next. It does make it hard to choose but I'm going with the Greyjoys. I'm far too obsessed with Theon for my own good.

One of my two favorite book series EVER (The other is the Dark Tower by Stephen King). The books are AMAZING!!! Plus you won't have the wait some of us did between the last two books, though who knows how long we'll be waiting for the next one.
Yes! The author is older, and not in great shape. He's been so slow to put out each subsequent book.... Let's just say I'm a little terrified he's going to die before he completes it. Does that sound insensitive?

Loved the books, and I was so excited for the series. Books are (almost) always better than movies, granted, but this series didn't disappoint.

LMAO! His website is FULL of comments about his weight and age, and his responses are hilarious. I know what you mean, though...

Ooooh, I would never say it TO him-- he's too notorious for taking a break from writing when people piss him off. Lol how long did he hiatus when we had the audacity to elect the presidential candidate he didn't endose? Lol

He gets pretty pissy. Which I dig, don't get me wrong. He can back up his 'tude by being our generation's Tolkien. Yeah. I said it.

Anyone try out Once Upon a Time? I am watching it now, but it feels like a low-budget 10th Kingdom so far.

Oh God, I'm dying to watch season 2.
The books areee amaaazing, we should introduce George R. R. Martin to MFP, so he gets healthier and lives enough to finish the series!

Rewatched Season 1 of GOT online, but I think that its going to be released on DVD soon....

I'm in withdrawal though...finished the latest book and couldn't WAIT to see what happens next. Does anyone know how many more books GRRM plans to write in the series? I hear the next one is out in 2015, but will that be the last one?

omgomgomg so obsessed!! (my name doesn't give that away does it?) lol

i wonder when season one will come out on dvd?? i've only read the first 2 books and watched one episode of the first season......... does anyone know!? =)

The DVD is out in early March in the UK. Got it on pre-order with Amazon. I'm so hoping it lives up to the books.

And you guys need to hunt out a couple of his earlier books, Fevre Dream and Armagedon Rag. 2 of my all time top 10 books. I know FD had been re-published recently but AG might be harder to find. Neither are on Kindle.:grumble:

I loved the series and then turned to the books. Raced through them to start but got stuck in Book 4. I'm taking a break and reading some other stuff right now (including hunger games series) but I will go back and finish them all. I am enjoying it, but found the book dragged a bit and wanted something a bit more fast paced, which Hunger Games definitely was!!

My favourite is still the Jack West Jnr series by Matthew Reilly. They are making a TV series out of that too, but he is currently writing more of his Scarecrow series, not focusing on my hero!!

Totally have Fevre Dream. Why is there no R.R. group on here?
