I made the burrito bake tonight and I'm definitely adding it to my arsenal of recipes. Not only was it really easy to make, it tasted delicious.
Changes I made:
- I used ground beef instead of turkey. The ground turkey would have been a lot less than calories, but unfortunately I forgot I needed it for tonight and used it yesterday in sloppy joes. Oops!
- I used a mixture of cheddar cheese and cotija cheese.
- (not pictured) I served it with guacamole.0 -
I made this tonight I did use a mexican blend of cheese that was 2% milk so lower fat than normal but not fat free. I was awesome and incredible. I can only eat a small bit but waw was it the best thing I have had in weeks.

What about just not using beans? If you want that goopy feel, you could top with sour cream or guacamole... Or make half without beans for your OH - we do a lot of that at my house!0

1. Please add me to this thread. It makes me happy.
2. I made it but I decided to to misx a little bisquik and pour on top like a sheppard's
2 cups milk (skim)
1 1/2 cup bisquik
1 egg
put the beans down, mixed the meat mixture with 1 cup cooked brown rice and cheese (wanted it to go further), topped with the bisquik. Baked at 375 until the topping was done. Made some fresh quac, and pico. Served it with a simple salad. HUGE hit!!!!
Changed up the cal count to 350 a serving and I got 12 squares out of it. Had to put it in my casserole dish. Hubs didn't even know it was a low cal dish! Kids went back for more. Thanks0 -

I finally made the Burrito Bake, and it was very good! My picky husband didn't comment on it, but he did go and get a second helping, so it must be good. It was also very filling. I am looking forward to leftovers for lunch today. Thanks!0

I made the burrito bake yesterday for supper and my husband and I loved it!!! the only thing i did different is I used extra lean jennio turkey and it tasted amazing. It is one of our new favorites. thanks so much for sharing. :flowerforyou:0

I made the Burrito Bake last night finally!!! It was very good!! My husband even liked it even though it is pretty much a casserole-something he claims to not like!
Anyway-thanks for the great recipe! It will be a staple for sure!0 -
BURRITO BAKE~
i got this out of a recipe book i got for christmas and created it lowfat... it is nummy either way!!!
here is what i did...
1 lb ground turkey cooked and drained. (or ground beef)
1 cup bisquick - lowfat
1/3 c water
1 reg sized can fat free refried beans
1/2 pack of taco seasoning
1 cup salsa
1 cup fatfree shredded cheese
brown turkey drain and add 1/2 pack taco seasoning as per directions
set aside
in a seperate bowl - mix bisquick, water & can of beans
spread in the bottom of a greased pie pan
then spread your cooked turkey on top
then pour your salsa evenly over that
and then top with your cheese...
bake 30 mins at 350
i topped with a little fat free sour cream
i cant believe how silly this sounds but it is goooooood....
