Why do so many people only run?

You can really get into a zone with running, it's almost like a meditive state. And it can be sociable, i love meeting other runners and giving them a knowing nod. At my age i really can't be bothering with team sports and having the pressure of other people relying on me.0

I got all my teeth knocked out when I was 5 and have since then been terrified of anything that could possibly hit me in the face. I even had to stop training as a figure skater because I couldn't get beyond the fear of hitting my face on the ice if I fell while doing a jump. I hate that I can't seem to move past this fear, but I'm 32 and still haven't gotten there. Not to mention the fact that because I grew up with this fear, I never played and now have crap for hand eye coordination! Ah well...0
