So I'm currently battling a nasty head cold but still want to workout this evening. I think I may have to take it easy though.
When you are sick, what do you do?

I take medicine and get rest.0

I give you credit for attempting to work out! Luckily, I don't get sick often, but when I do - it hits me SOO hard. Honestly - all I do is I lay on the couch fall asleep watching TV and I do some reading.0
-
Rest and chill out. And guzzle about six litres of water.0

I take medicine and get rest.
I also do this.0 -
Knock myself out with NyQuil for 24-48hrs and then resume normal activity.0
-
I crave really spicy food. Don't know why.0

skip the exercise, eat properly, take meds, plenty fluids. <-- thats what i do anyway.
if u feeling to workout, do something light. dont push it too much, your body needs to heal0 -
I do very little when sick or when my babies are sick. Your body is tell you to rest, so you don't get worse. Listen to your body. Right now, I am not feeling well. Stuff has be going around our house for 2 weeks now. I did some toning earlier but that is all I have the energy for. Take it easy and get some rest.0

As do I.0 -
Planning to get some running and lifting in tonight after I finish my 10.5 hour day at work
Do you feel a little better after working out? I figure I can still breath alright, so why not get my heart rate up and burn some calories.0 -
Rest.0

I'm drinking tons of water and taking DayQuil.0

your body needs to recouperate..get some rest and plenty plenty of fluids. the exercises will still be there when you feel better because your body does not have the energy to burn right now.0

I love gatorade and tomato soup when I am sick. Not together of course. I also just lay around0

I'm sick as well, I've been resting and getting my liquids. I want to be doing my work outs. I tried one night and only made it half way through.0

This summer I pushed though a cold and paid for it in the long run. I ended up with a nasty sinus infection (never realized they could get so bad) and severe coughing fits. I eventually went to the doctor (at the recommendation of my trainer) and the dr made me take off 10 days. It was the longest and hardest 10 days of my life!
So if you're feeling not so good, take the rest now. Don't push through it or you may be side lined for a longer period of time.0 -
I'd skip the workouts, just take it easy. Obviously your body NEEDS rest....0

Funnily enough, exercise helps me recover quicker from cold/flu, especially jogging. Not sure why though!
I guess there's some evidence that staying active boosts you immunity, and working you lungs harder probably helps you get rid of chesty infections, but who knows...0 -
just be good to yourself, rest and come back stronger. :smokin:0

It depends on how you feel and how sick you are. Light exercise helps boost immune response. I currenlty have a head cold, so today I ran 3 miles instead of the usual 5 or 6. The fresh air and light exercise made me feel better. If you have a fever, or feel completely exhausted, you should rest. If you do decide to exercise, definitely scale back and take it easy.0

I use it as an opportunity to throw up on people I don`t like
However, the rest and medicine and sleeping on the couch are great ideas too. Feel better soon!0 -
I'm planning on just going to the gym and running for a bit on the treadmill. No plans of going outside and exercising.0

If I really and truly feel like I'd feel better after I worked out, I'd work out. If I have the full body aches and feel feverish where even my HAIR hurts, I curl up in a little ball under a blankie.
I also don't log my food intake when I'm actively sick. I don't want to think about calories or macros, either trying to eat less or trying to eat more.0 -
I dont have a fever, so I'm guessing some light exercise should be alright.0
-
I'm with you. I have a nasty head cold right now too. I usually ride my exercise bike in the mornings, but didn't because I had a pounding headache. The headache is gone right now, so when I get home, I plan on doing Jillian Micheals 30 Day Shred. If I start to feel like I can't make it through, I'll stop, but I don't think it hurts to try. If you're running a fever, I'd skip it as it would increase your body temperature even more.
Edit: Just saw your comment on no fever...0 -

Why are you opposed to resting like almost every single person here has suggested?
You won't get punk rock points for working out while sick - you'll just get sicker.

Oh! So you're the guy who spreads his germs all over the gym.0 -
