The Starkist Tuna Creations are really good. Especially the sweet and spicy one. I make my sandwiches with this and some lettuce, salt and pepper.0

Echo. I've been able to replace almost any instance of Sour Cream or Mayo in my diet with Plain Greek Yogurt. With tuna, add in a little bit of lemon juice along with it and you're good.0 -
Just use a little bit of Kraft olive oil mayo. You don't need a ton to make it stick together and add moisture and it's only 45 calories per tablespoon.
Also, you should try the salmon that comes in pouches. It's way better tasting than tuna and doesn't have the mercury and BPA that canned tuna has.0 -
I usually use 1 can of tuna...add Pepper, Mrs. Dash (Original Blend), and I throw in some Pico de Gallo (chopped raw onion, tomato, jalapeno, and cilantro). Then mix it all up the Pico de Gallo gives a lot of flavor and moisture...0

I make mine simply:
2-2.6 oz packs of Starkist Chunk Light Tuna in water-low sodium 160 calories
1 T of Vlasic Sweet Relish-15 calories
1 T Kraft Light Miracle Whip-40 calories
Total 215 calories
For additional protein/taste I'll add a hard boiled egg chopped up for 70 calories!0 -
I love Kefir. I use it for my substitute for almost everything. It works with tuna like a charm add some of your own spices and voila. YUMMERS. I also use lettuce as my wraps instead of tortilla's . Really crunch and tasty.0

Trying to get some fish in my diet. Working my way toward salmon. Figured I'd start with a tuna sandwich. All the recipes I've found are loaded with mayo so I tried it plain with a lot of lettuce and tomato on whole wheat bread. It was white albacore in water and tasted dry and kinda blah. Any suggestions on how to fix it without making it bad for me?

I have recently discovered a sweet bread and butter pickle that is sugar free--it has Splenda. and it is GREAT!! NO calories!! and I add it to tuna or dressed eggs. I like light miracle whip, also. But, I am one of those people who like tuna plain with a little pepper. I eat it on a raw tomato or a lettuce salad. I have also eaten it with mustard. Like it either way.0

When I make tuna salad, I add half a tbsp. whipped salad dressing, finely sliced lettuce, an egg, and a tsp. of sweet relish. I eat it on toast or on a bagel thin. Delish :-)0

Sounds like it's the bread - those are a lot higher in cals than the mayo.
Eat the tuna w/ small portion of mayo - and only eat 1/2 the bread.
that'll give you a full-feeling from eating, and cut the break cals in 1/2.
When I eat tuna - I use lemon-pepper, and about 2 Tbslp of lite mayo,
add some celery and red onion. yum.0 -
I put my tuna on a multigrain wrap loaded with veggies then I just add a little olive oil and lots of lemon and parsley...yum!!!!!!!!!!0

Just get a nice tuna steak, sear both sides, drizzle with a little soy sauce and wasabi aioli. Done.0

Lite Miracle Whip or Lite Ranch works good. Also, I know someone who squeezes fresh lemon juice on her tuna with some pepper.0

Mix your tuna with balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, cracked black pepper, dill rosemary, and a little sage. Add sliced green onions, torn fresh basil. Place in a whole wheat pita with fresh spinach and roma tomato slices.0

Here in Toronto, we have Kozlik's Mustards. I use their dill mustard and light miracle whip, split about 50/50. Adds a nice little bite to the sandwich.0

I haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if it's been mentioned as an option - but what about using tuna in a mediterranean style wrap? Tuna, mixed with some olive oil, hummus, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, in a low carb or multigrain wrap? I do this with chicken all the time, but suppose it could work with tuna...0

I don't eat meat at all, so I haven't tried this, but I've heard swapping the mayo for avocado is awesome. Avocado still has a lot of fat and calories, but it's not as bad as mayo, and at least they're healthy fats.0
